You just helped us understand more than we can even tell you,” Sam agreed, stuffing his little notebook into his pocket. “I’m just glad to have any kind of explanation,” you said. “And I hope to never need one from you guys again,” you laughed. Dean smiled at you. “Well,” he said, scribbling down something on a page of his notebook and tearing it off. “Here’s my number, just in case anything else comes up. Or, you know, in case you wanted to grab a drink or something sometime.” He gave you his most charming smile and a wink and handed you the little page with his phone number on it. “Can I borrow that for a second?” you asked, and Dean eagerly handed over his notepad and pen. You scribbled down your number and tore the page off, folding it in half, handing the notebook back to Dean. But you didn’t hand him your number. He was obviously shy and maybe a little awkward, but those blue eyes and the quiet way about him had pulled you in as soon as you saw him. You held the folded note out to Cas who looked struck with surprise. Sam and Dean exchanged an amused glance. Cas accepted it and a smile grew on his face, but the stunned look didn’t leave his eyes. You gave him a wide smile as you felt your cheeks blush. “I’d like it if you called me sometime,” you said. He cleared his throat nervously and looked down at the note. “I--I will,” he said. “Good. Looking forward to it.” As the trio walked back to the Impala Dean patted the angel hard on the back. “Atta boy, Cas,” he said. Castiel looked over at him. “But I didn’t do anything.” Sam laughed lightly. “Sometimes you don’t have to. Sometimes it’s just chemistry.”
