He was talking about a small cough a few days ago and then last night walked off stage and this morning his voice was scratchy and they couldn’t talk. They had somehow gotten laryngitis two shows in, and Ashton was his personal maid to keep him healthy.

Ashton kept up with Luke, making sure they always had water around themselves and made sure Calum and Michael didn’t drink Luke’s water.

don’t even deny it, sick!michael would be so whiny and clingy if he wasn’t feeling the best like he’d be constantly sniffling or letting out the most inhumane cough just to get your attention with his arms outstretched for you - and of fucking course he’d have sweater paws bunched up against his scruffy chin with a weak smile for some extra convincing - and even though a small part of him didn’t want to be considered a ‘burden’, he still loved using your chest as a pillow while you brushed through his hair and twirled it between your fingers - even despite your cringing after any sort of ill-sounding noise that happened to escape him or the possibility that he was getting you sick and the vicious cycle of nausea and running noses would start yet again.

michael has a bad cold and the band doesn’t have a show for a few days so he comes home for a bit but he doesn’t tell you about it beforehand and when he gets there he can’t find his keys so he knocks on the door and shouts your name for a while but you don’t answer and suddenly he gets a text from you saying “there’s a man at my door who won’t go away” and he just laughs because his voice is so hoarse you can’t even recognize it so he texts you back, “it’s me you noob, open the door” and when you open it you can’t stop apologizing but he just hugs you and tells you it’s okay before setting his stuff down inside and collapsing in your bed and telling you to “come cuddle and pray I’m not contagious!”

Lucifer feels himself pale, the anger flowing down the drain. His head grows cold while his stomach churns hot, flushed with all the blood rushing from his face. He feels really sick. It's only the sharp pain just behind his heart that nails him to the spot, somehow still standing. Michael is in terrible pain. Seeing him burning up from the inside, close to sobbing and gasping for air under the freezing stream of the shower to ease the pain just a little is breaking Lucifer's heart. Before he could think better of it he is pulled to his brother, wrapping him up in his arms, pulling him back to his chest. He feels helpless like a child. The despair with which Michael unconsciously leans back into his touch, grasps for his naked forearms for his skin is cool, crunches the traitorous heart into fine diamond dust.
