Submission for Galraweek
For @captainkaltar!! @galraweek thank you for setting this up!
Lancelot, side of klance (one sided), angst, Dark Lance. This turned out way different than I expected. I hope you enjoy.
With a look, you took me. With a touch, you saved me. With a whisper, you made me realize my hopes and dreams. Being by your side, I could be great, I could make my family proud, I could finally be worth something to someone. Being with you, I could rule the galaxy. Everyone would know my name, I could be queen of the universe. I wouldn’t have to be anyone’s second choice, anyone’s back up., anyone’s fall back. By being by your side, my Prince, I could finally be loved. You told me this and more. You made me realize how unhappy and small I really am. How much better Keith is than I am. Why does everyone have a thing but me? Why can’t I be the hacker? The leader? The mechanic? Why can’t I be the chef? Why can’t I do cool things like fly into asteroid fields and black holes? Why can’t I be as beautiful as the Princess? As smart as Pidge? As strong as Shiro? Why am I the seventh wheel? I asked you this and you laughed, “You aren’t the seventh wheel,” you said with a smile as beautiful as the rising sun, “You are the most talented, amazing person I know.” “You must not know many people.” I said back. Your laugh is like a hundred ringing bells, gentle and beautiful. Part of me wants to make you laugh more. Your laugh makes my heart race and my mind soar. What are you doing to me Prince Lotor? Your arm around my shoulders comforts me, your gentle smile makes me feel at ease.
What Lance doesn’t notice as he is taken away is the smirk I throw back at the beaten and bruised paladins of Voltron. The one in black, the one with the Galra made arm, is holding the Princess, who is unconscious. The one in yellow is proping up the one in green, their hands clasped together. The yellow one keeps himself between my soldiers and the small green paladin. It’s funny really. How can he think that he could protect her. By far, the red paladin was in the worst shape. His left leg was no doubt broken, his bayard in two pieces on the ground in front of him. He had his eyes trained only on Lance, my blue paladin. The red paladin tried to push himself up, reaching out desperately for Lance. He coughed out a name, tears streaming down his pale face, a little bit of blood smeared across his mouth as he coughed. The blue paladin flinched at the sound of his voice, but didn’t turn around. “Lan-ce..” Red gasped for breath, more blood coming from his mouth. I leaned closer to my paladin, purring into his ear, “My queen. Let us make our way back to our castle.. you need to be checked for wounds and-” “LANCE!” The red paladin’s scream surprised both of us. “DON’T-” He coughed, “D-don’t leave.” Lance was quiet at my side. After a moment he turned his head, his beautiful blue eyes closed. “You had your chance Keith.” He says quietly, “You chose him. You let me believe that i was worthless, that I was inferior to you. I’m not going to do it anymore.” Lance strode towards the pod. He either didn’t hear the red paladin’s last words or didn’t care. “I-i love you.”
