Sidekicks can fulfil one or multiple functions, such as a counterpoint to the hero, an alternate point of view, or knowledge, skills, or anything else the hero does not have. They often function as comic relief, and/or the straight man to the hero's comedic actions. Sidekicks frequently serve as an emotional connection, especially when the hero is depicted as detached and distant, traits which might make it difficult to like the hero. The sidekick is often the confidant who knows the main character better than anyone else, and gives a convincing reason to like the hero. While unusual, it is not unheard of for a sidekick to be more attractive, charismatic, or physically capable than the supposed hero. In certain cases a s i d e k i c k can grow out of their role of second fiddle to the hero, and become a h e r o in their own right.

As a part of me trying not to be the grumpy shit I am every year, I’ve planned my first secret santa in the marvel fandom (i’m not sure if someone’s done this already so that’s why I say this is my version of it)
What we’re doing:
Basically a gift exchange, except that you also have to send a nice message every once in a while during the whole December month. I’m going to give you a blog and your blog will be given to another blog.
