The Nakshatras as Evil Ahh Politicians PART 3: BHARANI, the Econ Bro

Unlike the previous two nakshatras I covered in this series, Bharani isn't tied to a specific ideology; at least, not to the same extent as Rohini and Chitra were. I found Bharani communists, liberals, socialists, etc. As a result, this was a much harder article to write because I had to brainstorm what patterns there were among many different types of politicians.

Bharani is ruled by the deity Yama, the Hindu God of Death and Justice (Dharma), who is the progenitor of the human race and casts judgment upon the souls of the deceased. He is a staunch enforcer of Dharma and has often been depicted with weapons such as a noose or a mace. Bharani's shakti, Apabharani Shakti, is the power to take things away by the removal of life from the body and then carrying souls to the realm of the ancestors ("Shaktis of the Nakshatras," American Institute of Vedic Studies).

In the case of an evil politician with this nakshatra, they cast their judgmental eye against 'the poors', 'the welfare state', 'regulation', [insert excuse to hate on the marginalized], etc. One thing Bharani politicians will do is to take away wealth from the middle and lower classes.

As a nakshatra associated with the planet Venus, it is deeply concerned with money and resources, specifically, how resources are distributed among society...ECONOMICS. If it isn't economics, then Bharani is concerned with how power is distributed among society....POLITICAL SCIENCE.

Anecdotal experience: when I was studying for a BA in Economics, I was meeting Bharani natives left and right. The ones who sucked ass at math went into PoliSci while the ones who were math geeks went into philosophy or economics. Absolute cinema.

However, one ideology that particularly seems to attract Bharani (and the Ketu nakshatra trine as well) is...NEOLIBERALISM.

Bharani is a nakshatra that is extremely concerned with a state's economic status and in an evil ass politician....fucking it up in the long-term is what occurs.

Let's start with the most notorious Bharani evil ass politician to ever gain power: Ronald Reagan, former U.S. President (1980-1989). He had Moon in Bharani.

Reagan transformed American economic policies during his tenure as President, along with the political order prior to him. He cracked down on welfare programs and government spending; a staunch follower of deregulation and privatization, his trickle-down economic policies have led to the sharp rise in wealth inequality within American society.

Bharani is one of the most recurring nakshatras in neoliberal politicians, philosophers, and intellectuals. Something about privatization and extreme deregulation makes the natives of this asterism thirsty bitches.

If it isn't Bharani, then the Ketu nakshatra trine appears in neolibs, though that is past the scope of the article.

Friedrich Hayek, Bharani Sun and possible Moon (though Ashwini is more likely to be his Moon placement but that's for another article):

One of the most, if not the most, influential economists of the twentieth century, Friedrich Hayek, had Sun in this asterism. Hayek was one of the major figures in the second wave of neoliberalism, an economic philosophy touted by figures such as Reagan and Thatcher in the 1980s. A fierce advocate for classical liberalism, limited government, and radical individualism. According to Hayek, the welfare state would inevitably lead to totalitarianism.

Why is he evil, you'd ask? Wasn't he just an academic writing research papers in an ivory tower? Well, no. If you think that academia has no impact on politics, then you are sorely wrong. Extremely wrong.

Friedrich Hayek was a supporter and advisor to none other than dictator Augusto Pinochet of Chile. This included economic policies which directly caused the Economic Crisis of 1982 in Chile. Despite the neoliberal policies endorsed by Pinochet and the cabal of economists who don't go outside 90% of the year, unemployment skyrocketed to 20% of Chile's population, GDP fell by 14%, and deepened wealth inequality within Chile. Still to this day, Chile struggles with high levels of wealth inequality and marginalization of the lower classes. The top 1% of Chileans earn about a quarter of total income and own 50% percent of all wealth in Chile (Lecaros, et.al. "Inequality in Chile: Perceptions and Patterns).

A non-neoliberal example of evil ass politicians of this nakshatra is...

Antonio Salazar, Bharani Sun:

Former Prime Minister of Portugal, he was also a legit economist and professor of political economy. Very Bharani of him.

During his tenure as Portugal's Minister of Finance along with his reign as Prime Minister, he radically transformed its economy through austerity policies. While he did accomplish positive feats such as a government budget surplus in his earlier years, he ended up leaving his citizens poorer than their neighbors, along with wasting time holding onto colonies in Africa and maintaining staggeringly high illiteracy rates in Portugal.

Salazar was also...a corporatist. He believed tehat organizing society into organized social groups. Class conflict will be eradicated as all social classes will live in harmony with each other. In practice, this just ended up marginalizing the poor. Yet again.

Here is a direct quote from him: "I do not believe in equality, I believe in hierarchy." (What an asshole).

Conclusion:

Having Bharani in your big 3 does not make you as evil as any of these people listed above. We all have agency and free will in our own lives. Plenty of great Bharani natives out there.

Scorpio and Aries are both ruled by Mars. Mars represents drive, aggression, sexuality, survival, and identity through willpower. Because of the planet’s signature energy; power, sex appeal, assertion, and defiance. their style carries a rebellious and bold edge. Aries and Scorpio both love making an impression. Something I’ve noticed as well is hair dye, which to me represents reinvention and self-assertion. It’s mainly seen among the Aries rashi, which makes sense since Aries rules the head and the 1st house governs selfhood, identity, and the physical body. The 1st house reflects the first impression you make and the way your energy meets the world. It’s raw, immediate, and instinctive and for Aries, hair dye often becomes a form of identity assertion.

Colors: One go-to color is black, mysterious like a shadow or a void, which resonates with Scorpio (co-ruled by Ketu, described as void-like). Another is red, associated with blood and desire, often linked to Aries energy. Interestingly, Ashwini and Bharani nakshatra colors are also blood red. (However the mars signs gravitates towards both colors)

Gandanta nakshatras : karmic whirlpools

This concept comes from a very niche aspect of Vedic Astrology.

🌀 Gandanta nakshatras are a point of transition between water and fire signs. They are a knot end, which signifies the end of a significant karmic cycle. If you have a placement here, you are at the end of your karmic cycle in regard to that planet.

These are the sacred junctions where the final pada (quarter) of a water sign meets the first pada of a fire sign, including:

🐍 Ashlesha (Cancer, water) → 🦁 Magha (Leo, fire) 🦂 Jyeshtha (Scorpio, water) → 🏹 Mula (Sagittarius, fire) 🐟 Revati (Pisces, water) → 🐏 Ashwini (Aries, fire)

There is a clash between the water element (emotional and receptive) and the fire element (active and assertive). This creates a zone of intense energy because there is a lot of energy transfer.

💧 Fire evaporates water, and water extinguishes fire; these are opposing properties. Therefore, when they meet, they create a powerful karmic zone where they work against each other, facilitating karmic ties to tie and untie!

Planets in the Gandanta point of a water sign make one untie the karmic knot, while the planets in the fire signs make one tie a new karmic knot.

These degrees especially create the maximum intensity and put one in strong karmic duties:

At the midpoint of the Gandanta zone 0° of the fire sign, the intensity is null, it becomes one with the knot end.

🌀 People with planets in the Gandanta zone often feel strongly controlled by their destiny, unaware that they are paying off numerous karmic debts at once.

🌀 The two nakshatras in the gandanta zone can act like each other; this is what makes them karmic, as they twist their pure qualities inside out at times.

At times, they express the exact opposite of what they’re known for, pulling you into deep lessons of soul flexibility.

For example: 🌊 Ashlesha’s cautious, protective nature may suddenly transform into Magha’s bold leadership. 🔥 Mula’s fierce independence may soften into Jyeshtha’s emotional depth. 🐏 Ashwini’s impulsive courage may flow into Revati’s compassion.

It’s like Neville Longbottom’s bravery: You wouldn’t expect it, but when it’s time, it emerges from the ashes, showing that these souls carry hidden strengths, ready to bloom exactly when their karmic script calls them forward.

This is why, life feels very destined to them!

🌀 Any planet placed here is in a difficult situation because it is a transition point. It needs to let go of a sense of identity and embrace a new path that is completely opposite to what the native thinks of himself as. And obviously, the soul fights it, always fights it.

🌿 Ashlesha: In this final stage of Cancer, the search for emotional security and psychological truths nears completion. The serpents’ wisdom asks the soul to shed old skins, outdated mindsets, and karmic fears to grow anew — a process that can be painful and deeply transformative.

🦁 Magha: Now, the soul is ready to descend from the mind into life itself. The search turns into participation. It begins embracing its dharma, ancestry, and purpose in the material world with dignity and presence, stepping into life with a newfound readiness to experience and lead.

The lion steps into the world, crowned with the strength to live fully and lead.

✨ This is the most intense Gandanta, where the soul’s direction pivots toward its true spiritual path, even if it must first be torn from everything it once clung to.

Here, material ties are shattered, illusions burn, and inner churnings test every layer of your being. The soul knows where it must go but fights it, creating emotional or physical blocks that demand deep maturity to dissolve.

🦂 Jyeshtha: Here, the worldly attachments like power, status, old loyalties begin to crack. The soul is forced to see what it clings to for false security. If it resists, the breaking is harsh: deep emotional turmoil, dramatic falls from power, or sharp betrayals. But if embraced, this knot reveals hidden strength, transforming wounds into psychic power.

🏹 Mula: Now the soul sees the path forward = the roots must be dug up. Old identities and karmic debts cling like ghosts, yet the soul knows freedom lies beyond them. There is often a pull to sever ties, to break ancestral chains, to stand alone if needed, and to rise unchained.

🐾 Sirius Black embodies this perfectly. Born into the suffocating pride of the Black family, he shattered its material legacy by choosing freedom over blind loyalty. He wrestled inner demons, broke ancestral curses, fought old ties, and paid the price — yet remained fiercely true to himself. His life is the story of the soul at this Gandanta: refusing to be bound by inherited shadows, even when the cost is exile, loss, or sacrifice.

idk if it’s just me that’s noticed this but i feel like sidereal martians, specifically aries, have this very abrasive approach towards other people’s belongings. obviously not on purpose, but i’ve noticed how they have a very heavy “i kinda don’t care” attitude when it comes to another person’s belongings, as long as it’s not their own, the item isn’t their sole responsibility. they’ll toss things around or just be a little too lax when it comes to treating something delicately.

i’ve observed this behaviour coming from my younger sisters, my bsf, her brother and even me. all of us have sidereal mars dominating our big 6 and i just realised recently because of somethings my bsf did and i was like “damn that’s kinda selfish/annoying. why couldn’t she just take this/me into consideration for this or that?” i’ve had the same kind of proclamations from my other family members or friends with a sidereal aries placement where it’s been like “i kinda want you to just put a little bit more thought into us instead of you please”

my conclusion is that as long as we’re content, we dgaf abt anyone else. i’ve observed how i’ve been selfish in situations before, putting myself first and foremost when in reality i have like somebody other than myself in either my care or someone else’s care. it’s kinda bad when it’s me caring for another person, cus i know my own comfort, what makes me happy and what i specifically wanna do. so when throwing somebody else into the mix, especially when they’re different to how i do things, it either irritates me or i choose to blank them out to keep pleasing myself.

tho i do know/understand why aries natives have this attitude, i think our need to continuously please ourselves sometimes makes us forget that we are not the only people on this earth. i find it intriguing how we zoom in into ourselves and neglect how others would feel about even the smallest of things, especially when we mean no harm. as someone with both aries and libra dominating my big 6 and 1H/7H, i think it’s important to balance the wants of thyself on top of the wants of others. cus whilst we are born alone and die alone, we do not make it throughout everyday without another person being by our sides.

i don’t really have a specific conclusion to give for this post just because i’m honestly rambling over a small thought that was prompted by my bsf throwing my charger onto the floor carelessly for the twenty eleventh time this week i’ve been with her lmao. i love her tho so idgaf that much. i did a quick skim over everything i just wrote, so if a sentence doesn’t make sense or there’s just spelling/grammar errors, it’s cus i haven’t come back to look over it properly yet. anyways enough rambling, hope you all liked this little piece, bye bye :)
