sycamores look so dense in the waning dusky night;

this room’s sole light pried through the curtained kitchen window onto the fading grassy lawn out back engulfed by the still air's command.

despite warnings blared on the major channels about the 'marauders' seen two miles south of the outskirts this evening (their words..)

i'm loath to let a perfectly good dusk pass unseen since i hit a minor lottery, a few hundred thou bought this acred space and abode, smack dab in the middle of a serene somewhere, a far cry from my midtown apartment;

their loss, my gain - i was thinking as i sidled up to my favorite picture window - before a single gunshot pierced my revelry like a hatpin in a long carnival balloon.

what an image to onjure up, just now.
