I'm not dead! Hurray!

Sorry guys, I know it's been a LONG TIME. So much has happened during this accidental tumblr-break;

- I've been working as a librarian and I have loved it so fucking much!

- I moved to a nice apartment

- I have gotten so many plants help I have a problem

- I finally got my first ever tattoo

And some things have stayed the same; I still have awful mental health at times but trying to work on it.

Confrontation it was, then. Charles sighed, punched in what he hoped would enable some actually useful defence mechanisms on his hoverchair’s control panel under his left hand and rounded the next corner.

If his legs weren’t already numb, the sight that awaited him would have probably sent him to his knees.

“I heard you came to foil my evil plans, Professor X,” the man on the bed in front of Charles purred. “How about you foil me instead?”

Charles swallowed, opened his mouth– and no words came out.

Erik Lehnsherr, Master of Magnetism, one of the most feared and hated and revered mutants on Earth, was laying there spread out on the sheets, with his cape (of an atrocious shade of magenta, if Charles might add) and helmet and not much more covering his idle form.

“Um,” Charles finally put his very intelligible thoughts into very intelligible words.

There was that utterly irritating, pain-in-the-arse, shut-up-and-come-over-here-and-kiss-me-senseless shark grin on those familiar lips again, and then Erik shifted his helmet – the only thing obscuring his crotch region from view – slightly and Charles almost had a heart attack right then and there.

8. is there a book that deserved a sequel but didn’t get one?

Oof, I honestly cannot say. I’m not the biggest reader of series and I kinda like one-ofs? Oh, maybe The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke? I loved the book as a child and while it has a good ending, I wouldn’t have minded reading more books in that verse? 

20. what author—dead or alive—would you want to meet and discuss (their) books with?

Ok, I’m going with Oscar Wilde here. Like every good tumblerina I was obsessed with him as a teen and I’d be just curious to know what the man behind the legend was like. And nowadays I see him critically enough not to be disappointed if he turned out to be a total douche. 

31. would you rather read a book with terrible writing but a good story OR a book with a terrible story but good writing?

Terrible story but good writing, since I believe that even the simplest story can be great, if told right. The telling is where the magic lies, baby!  :D

I say I want to connect with people and then I don’t even reply when an ask is sent, hope you forgive me for being a couple of days late with this.... :D

But oh my god such a perfect question!! You’re giving me an actual permission to talk about my obsessions lol

Let’s do this chronologically!

1. The Untamed

The beginning of my danmei fandom path, and genuinely the first true obsession in years. I watched it last May when I was furloughed from work and staying with my parents because I couldn’t bear to stay in London during the first lockdown. I kept seeing people blogging about these beautiful Chinese fantasy boys and decided that was something brand new I just needed to watch. Little did I know I was about to embark into a serious new obsession. The rest is history and leads to...

2. Mandarin

I’ve been studying Mandarin Chinese since last summer, just using apps (HelloChinese is excellent!). I’m still not that great but I could order a cup of coffee in Chinese or ask where a park is so I’m not shit either, I must know a couple of hundred words, so yay! Also learning the characters is so relaxing, really tickles my brain in a particular way. I’d love to get to more fluent stage so I’ll keep on studying. 

3. Foraging mushrooms

You didn’t specify what the obsessions needed to be about so... I stayed in Finland for 7 months when the pandemic first started and during the autumn I spent all my freetime foraging mushrooms. No regrets. I hecking loved it. 

4. Houseplants

Girl needs a pandemic hobby, this is mine. I had to quarantine for 10 days after arriving back in London and I ordered 17 new plants during those then days. I haven’t stopped since. Send help. 

5. Word of Honor

Current obsession. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. 

Real talk, danmei/wuxia shows and books have introduced me to another culture, language and a bunch of wonderful new people. 12/10 would recommend to anyone, I am always happy to recruit.

8. best book/book series of the year?

The Dispossessed is kinda my default answer. There were actually plenty of highlights this year, but that was such a positive surprise that it still sticks to mind.

13. best movie of the year?

Parasite, I guess? Didn't see that many movies this year for obvious reasons (Parasite did slap tho).

25. what’s one thing that you hope will continue next year?

3 ships: This probably means all time ships so best all time ships are Hannigram from Hannibal and SilverFlint from Black Sails. And also Theon/Robb from GoT/ASOIAF, of course. Also lately I’ve found a new ship that is reserving a lot of my emotional capacity. This summer I finally decided to give South Park a watch and I meant it to be a show I casually watch and do NOT grow too attached to but oh boy that plan did not work out AT ALL. I’ve watched almost all 23 seasons in less than three months, and Stan/Kyle ship has taken over me.

Last Song: One Direction’s Home. 10 year 1D anniversary was a while ago and due to that I’ve been listening to a lot of 1D.

Last Movie: Not exactly a movie but yes a movie: I watched the official live recording of the musical Hamilton! Man that was good.

Currently Reading: I always have more than one book on my “currently reading” list. Among these books is the 10th Wheel of Time book (10th of the Finnish series where each original book is split into two or three parts bc Finnish is a language of loooooong words), a book that’s supposed to help me write my master’s thesis and a book that’s supposed to tell me how to become an investor xd

Currently Watching: Well like I said I’ve watched South Park this summer and pretty much nothing else.

Currently consuming: I assume this means food/drink? Nothing special, only water.

Food I’m Craving Right Now: Hmmm I don’t think I'm craving anything right now? Except that for a couple of hours now I’ve been thinking about going to the fridge to fetch my pineapple soda but I haven’t done so anyway. But maybe I’ll go now xp
