Make Your Move || Sienna & Zander
Zander’s lips turned down into a frown as he consulted the flier in his hand once more. They then parted as he silently read the address on the bright piece of paper, glancing up every now and then to assure himself that he was indeed in the right place. He conferred with the numbers again and carefully folded the paper and shoved it into his pocket. His head tilted backwards as she looked upwards at just how tall the apartment building was. He let out a low whistle. While Paris did have tall buildings, he wasn’t used to seeing such tall apartment complexes. The apartments surrounding his part of the city were short and packed close together; if you leaned out one window you could have a proper chat with your neighbor without having to shout.
He heaved a sigh. Moving didn’t feel as official as it did now, not even when he helped his mothers get their belongings sorted just yesterday before they came with him to SCCU to do the same. But now, here he stood before his new apartment building, getting ready to meet his new roommate. Of course, his mothers wanted him to live at home but he gently talked them into allowing him to live in a place off campus as long as he paid half the rent. They would cover the rest of his portion. That was part of the compromise; he only hoped his new roommate wouldn’t mind them being a tad…pushy.
“Voulez-vous que nous vous rencontrons et que nous les rencontrons?” Zander’s eyes widened as he turned around on the spot, catching the last few hand movements his mother made as she spoke. Her kind smile made crinkles appear in the corners of her eyes. He smiled and shook his head, the previous feeling of embarrassment immediately melting away.
“Non, maman, je peux le faire moi-même. S'il vous plait, attendez ici,” Zander replied, using his hands to form signs as he spoke. He stepped closer and placed a light kiss to her cheek. “Je reviens tout de suite."
“N'oubliez pas les croissants. Ils sont frais, je suis sûr que votre colocataire les appréciera,” she added and then removed a foil-covered plate from the backseat only to thrust it towards him. She toook his face into her hands and placed kisses on both his cheeks. A dusting of red formed on his cheeks as his smile grew wider and then he approached the elevator in front of him. Once inside he blew out a long breath. His long fingers tapped against the bottom of the plate, breaking up the steady hum of the elevator as it ascended to the fourth floor. Or ‘Floor D’ as it was marked.
He easily found the room in question and stood outside the door, collecting his thoughts and easing his breath. As he raised his hand to knock he quickly prayed that the person on the otherside of the door wasn’t a nightmare. So when the door opened he angled his head downwards to properly look at the person, blinked, and uttered, “Um…Allo. Er…hello. You have a…oh, what’s the word. A flier…for a roommate? I believe I was assigned to you…”
