Hex To Silence Gossip

Tools:

Picture of the Offending Person

Twine

Cow Tongue

Three Iron Nails

Parchment Paper, Butcher Paper, or Cloth Sack

Black Thread

Method:

Using the twine, bind the person’s image to the cow’s tongue. With this thread I bind your tongue. Take the iron nails and hammer them into both the tongue and the person’s picture, making sure to put a nail through their mouth/throat. Three nails to stop your speech and silence you. Wrap the tongue in a sack or in butcher paper and bind it up well with black thread. I cover your mouth to end your lies. Bury the whole thing deep so that it isn’t dug up, but near enough that you can retrieve it later. Let your mouth fester and your words die within your rotting mouth. The person should be unable to speak ill of you for a time - ideally, this spell should also manifest physically as well in the form of cavities, mouth sores, or injuries to the mouth/throat. If you’ve land and space then you can leave the tongue to decay on its own. If not, then you’ll want to dig it up and dispose of it after a while.

This spell is based off of a request from phoneticfrenetic for a family member with a bit of a sharp tongue. The intent of the spell is is to encourage a person to who is careless or even downright cruel with their words to keep things to themselves. 

What You'll Need:

Fabric (I favor black felt for binding)

Thread (preferably purple for justice and communication)

Something that will write on fabric

Scissors

Stuffing (cotton batting is a good default)

Honey (for sweetness)

White Rose petals, fresh or dried(Victorian flower language for silence)

Salt (for purification)

Something representing the target (strand of hair, make-up/chapstick they've used, even their name on a piece of paper as a last resort)

How It's Done:

Make a basic fabric poppet using black fabric and purple thread. (If you don't know how to do this check out my tutorial right over here)

When you go to add features to the poppet add a single line for the mouth (We will be adding more later)

Stuff the poppet with your stuffing of choice and a few pinches of salt focusing on cleansing the person from the inside out.

Add the representation of the target to the inside of the poppet and close the poppet up.

Stitch the white rose petal(s) over the line mouth with a row of "X's" While doing the stitching imagine the target's mouth being covered in petals every time they go to say something nasty.

Add a smear of honey across the top of the petal while focusing on the things that do come out of their mouth being sweeter.

As you do this say "Silence is soft, silence is sweet, your silence would most certainly be my treat. Your words will plague me no more."

If possible keep the poppet around and bring it into the area every time you have to deal with the target. (For example keeping it in your backpack if this person is at your school or putting it in a living room cupboard if the person comes to your home)
