This is part of a collection of posters/1960s inspired surreal art I worked on last year, each one based on an episode of Season 4 of The Avengers (the British one I really like, I will do more seasons later). This was an experiment, so the quality and execution will vary, I found new tricks along the way, not immediately.

Description That Was Written Back When This Was The Most Recent:

CW: Dying/dead birds. I think I must've made this piece even sooner than Two's A Crowd. This episode, the fourteenth of season 4, Silent Dust (inspired by the environmental non-fiction book Silent Spring) didn't have a lot of juxtaposing imagery like most Avengers episodes have. But it still had outdoorsy imagery that work together. The plot is that game-hunters are working together to bring the government to its knees with a severely dangerous pesticide. So yeah, this is basically Avengers' Green Death (or technically Avengers' Planet of Giants).

It's why I have the guy with the shot-gun there (cut out from the poster of 1955's Shotgun), the dry ground, the smoky sky, and the birds dying in mid-air (immediately seen in the episode's cold opening). There were also protesters in the episode with those exact signs, protesting the villains' hunting, I thought it would be an interesting touch to add to the hunter's target. The beginning of the episode also had a striking scarecrow (even came with their own bowler hat) that I just had to make the star of the poster, giving the poster the recurring surreal Avengersland touch.

The poster is styled like a western movie poster (hence why the font choice and why a figure from a western movie poster) since Steed had a dream that he was a wounded sheriff being tended to by Mrs Peel as the town's mustachioed town doctor, letting me give the piece some sort of contrasting theme. One other unique motif was the bear trap, but I couldn't figure out where to include it, especially when the piece was nearly done. I mean, the scarecrow had no feet.
