also! thanks to everyone who let me know that the wind waker sequels are for the DS after that one post I reblogged! I wonder if that's why people don't consider them proper sequels? anyway, they sound fun and I wish they were for a console/device that I actually have xD

also oh my god, wtf is these people's problem? there's also the /context/ where Pidge says she's a girl, namely a straight-up coming out scene, like straight-up modeled after a trans person coming out as their true gender
100% agree with you!
I was about to write this exact thing (about how Pidge doesn’t just say “I’m a girl” but literally comes out as a girl) in my reply to that person, but then I felt like as a cis person it wasn’t my place to call them out? So thanks for chiming in!
Quick question: Is it okay if I tag you in stuff like this in the future? (If you’d rather stay out of the discourse, I totally understand.)
It's 8:28 & I'm thinking abt the story I'm writing. also batman ^_^
good morning Mellie! <3
it’s 9:37am and I’m thinking about what a weird but accurate mood so many of The National’s songs are (but also about how I wish they went just a little bit harder).

silentmachina replied to your post: HEY HAVE I TALKED ABOUT THE GAMEBOY HEIST
NO LET’S HEAR IT
OKAY SO THIS IS A LONG-ASS STORY SO I’M PUTTING IT UNDER A CUT
in grade two or three, i got a GBA for my birthday. this was great, because now i could play pokemon just like.. whenever, and not only when hanging out with friends or my cousins.
My mom was firmly opposed to it, because at that point she still believed video games were tools of satan, but she couldn’t make my aunt take it back because it was a Gift and that would be Impolite. She could, however, blame me throwing up on the car ride home on the fact that I was playing it while in the car. That may have been part of it, but a bigger contributor was probably the fact that I had caught the flu and that was about when it started showing up.
So some rules for gameboy use were set: only in the car, and only for one in three hours. These rules were only enforced when my mom was in the car, if I was with my dad I could basically play whenever. At some point along the line, she claimed I’d lost the gameboy on a trip, but it later turned out she’d just forgotten where she’d hidden it. After that, I made sure to track down it’s hiding spot whenever I had the chance, just so I’d know it wasn’t missing again.
Anyways, several years later, my grade went on a trip to Quebec City. It’s about a 10-hour drive, and i asked my mom if i could bring my gameboy on the trip since most of my friends would be bringing theirs and we were planning on trading pokemon on the trip up. My mom said “No, it’s a school trip, you should be learning on the drive, not playing games.”
Naturally, I thought this was bullshit, and resolved to bring it anyways.
The morning of the trip, my mom asks me to show her my backpack. She goes through it, finds the shoe bag the gameboy was in (we had a bunch of bags, all identical, gameboy got put in one of them for reasons that were never adequately explained to me), and she’s like “Aha! I knew you were hiding it! If you’d asked I would have let you bring it!” Apparently she’d forgotten the fact that, earlier in the week, my dad had to talk her into letting me bring fiction books with me since “school is for learning, [she] shouldn’t be reading silly fantasy things”
She gets ready for work, I eat breakfast, my dad and I load my bag and my backpack into his truck, and mom comes out to wave goodbye. The second we’re out of eyesight, I turn around, open my suitcase, pull out a shoe bag, empty my gameboy and my games out of it, and put them in my backpack.
“Is there, uh, something you wanna tell me?” my dad says
“Do you want to be an accomplice?”
“...Carry on.”
So the gameboy went to Quebec.
Now, in order to understand what happened, we need to back up a bit. Almost exactly two months, to my friend’s birthday. He got a GBA SP, and since he didn’t have any younger siblings and the battery port was a little loose, he held onto his old gameboy in case he wanted to trade pokemon with himself.
Two weeks before the trip, I ask to borrow it. He agrees, and comes over that weekend, leaving his GBA behind.
Three days before the trip, my mom is on-call, and my dad is working in toronto overnight, so I have the house to myself for a good six hours. I go through everything, every cupboard, every drawer, climb into the attic crawlspace, search the house from top to bottom. I find the shoebag with my games in it underneath the water heater. I take them out, slip the replacement gameboy into the bag, and stick my gameboy and games under my mattress.
The night before the trip, i get up at 2 am, sneak into the basement, grab the bag with my friend’s gameboy from under the water heater, and slip it into my backpack.
The morning of the trip, after my mom finds the decoy bag and gets in the shower, satisfied that my scheme has been unearthed, i take advantage of the fact that she can’t hear what’s happening in my room over the sound of the water to grab my gameboy from under the mattress and hide it and my games in the shoebag that she’d packed my sandals in.
When it was safe, I made the swap.
I still have that GBA, it’s sitting beside our bed since I love me some pokemon.
Not to sound like I’ve got my head up my ass, but one of the things I like most about myself is my capacity to be curious about/interested in nearly anything. Currently one of those things is the Sonoran desert’s ecosystem, and evolution’s pretty cool take on what might survive out here and why.
Papaya: What song describes your aesthetic?
Hmm. I guess this has two answers. For a song that describes my personal aesthetic, the one I actually have, I’d say B. Fleischmann’s Aldebaran Waltz -- lowkey and casual but overall optimistic. (Yes, I know it’s my new jam, but look, it’s a good song. XD) For a song that that describes the aesthetic I’m into, the one I strongly identify with, have Radical Face’s Asleep on a Train -- soothing and redolent of lazy, peaceful summer afternoons.
