I don't know how official english translation or original looks, but the funny thing about polish version of Tokyo Ghoul manga is omake, when Touka talks with underground kids.
So, polish translator decided to use silesian dialect for underground, which is the dialect used in one of the region near to Germany, so it have a lot of german-origin words mixed with polish and some additions from other slavic languages (which I found out just a few days ago) and the average polish person don't understand much in this dialect xd unless they're from Silesia.
I mean, grammar is almost the same and many words are similar, but also many aren't xd And it's more similar to old version of polish, so, well, it's hard to understand. I think I understand myself half of it or so.
(I didn't know that's what you call it english too xd)
So, underground kids called Ayato "gryfny karlus" in this omake, where "karlus" (meaning boy) is similar to polish "krasnal" or "karzeł" which means "dwarf" and "midget"
So Ayato was like "I'M NOT A DWARF!"
And Touka: Calm down, they said you're handsome.
Handsome is "gryfny" btw
But when I think about it, he used "konus" not "krasnal" or "karzeł" and konus means "cone", but it's archaic word and we use it more in the meaning of "very short person"
Tho "konus" isn't very popular word either xd But I think translator used it, but I don't have manga, so I don't know. I was borrowing it from my friend and we don't talk much now
Well, that's the reason why I thought that Ayato is still short in :re xdddddddd
I skiped some chapters, okay
And, also, taking already existing dialect is so smart? I use it sometimes in my roleplaying and I have so much fun, Ayato still doesn't understand it at all xd
