I finally got my other pair of liners back however they weren't fixed or even remade. The company claims that since they used the same mold there is nothing else they can do. They are significantly thinner than the ones I have been wearing for quite some time. I was told just to wear them and try to add socks so my prostheses still fit properly. Talk about frustration. I shouldn't have to wear multiple pairs of socks with a new set of prostheses. The only way to prove to this company that they are different thicknesses is to send both pairs to their office in Idaho (which I can't feasibly do and still live my life). So I agreed I'd use more socks but noted that we would need to figure out something else before next summer. If you recall, I have hyperhydrosis (severe sweating) on both of my residual limbs and that causes my prostheses to become uncomfortable & not stay attached properly.
Since I've been wearing two pairs of socks on top of each liner it has caused my skin to break down as if this is the first time I'm wearing the prostheses. I've been wearing these for about 9 months now and shouldn't have issues like this any more. What's worse is that now I have another ulcer (sore) on the side of my right knee. It's killing me to walk and I even stayed home one day last week because of it. I had a sore all spring and summer on the top of my knee that never wanted to go away and this cannot be another one of those. For starters, I have no insurance right now and going to the doctor is out of the question. I'm pretty much immune to antibiotics so it would be worthless to go even if I could afford it. I digress. I was able to use a silicone donut and didn't have any pain today while walking which was a great improvement. I was only able to do this because all of the other skin break downs had healed! I am hoping to stop by my prosthetist's office tomorrow to pick up those calendars I made a few posts about and see if there is something we can do to fix this. I will warn you, some of the photos below are graphic. If you have a queasy stomach, I am sorry in advance.
On to a night of naproxin sodium (reduce swelling), pain reliever, arnica gel (homeopathic remedy) and general rest/relaxation. There will be a time that I won't have to do this every single night before bed. At least I'm assuming this is possible.
Old, standby liners - cause no issues
Side of right knee ulcer.
Nearly healed ulcer that lasted nearly 6 months. Starting to reopen due to liners. Ugh.
Getting through this one day at a time. This is ability!
