Im not sure if alot of people experience this or its just me but being a chronically ill young women i feel like my pain and sickness is made into a spectacle to the men around me, if i open up to my father or brother im either met with them mocking/making fun of me or degradation and harshness if my pain even slightly effects them and their plans and with male doctors im met with (not subtle at all) condescending looks and dismissive attitudes towards me as if im an attention seeker, being chronically ill as a women at a young age just feels like a constant humiliation ritual
We don't talk enough about how fluctuating needs don't only mean day-by-day. They can change pretty rapidly throughout the each day. Hour-by-hour, or even within minutes!
Anyways this lack of acknowledgement caused me to feel a little strange in the beginning because there was just no representation for my experience! Even though it should go without saying, the way a lot of people present having fluctuating needs is as if they know exactly what their limits for the day will be first thing in the morning when they wake up and that's just Not Me.
So, I'm here to let you know that you're valid for needing to make adjustments to your accommodations throughout your day, and it's okay that you can't predict the future daily. Just be prepared and make sure nobody gives you shit for it, not even yourself!!
chronic pain so bad i should be able to make nationwide announcements complaining about it
About 15 years ago, I broke my left arm & ended up getting plates & screws. They’re all still in there, & I have some gnarly scars that strangers ask about all the time & I make up a story. It’s all good fun. Except now every winter there will be random days when the pressure or temperature changes make it HURT.
Do any of you deal with similar bone pain? What do you do for it? OTC pain meds don’t do much for me—the most helpful thing I’ve found is wrapping it in a heat pack, but then I can’t get anything done.
bone pain userboxes for anon !
My bones have decided on this midnight to do the clickaty clack. sometimes I wonder if they're simply calling for their brethren:
Us know I'm used to my bones hurting but why does my BROW BONE HURT?? It does this occasionally in one specific spot and if I massage it for a little bit it goes away? Like the massage is a little painful at first and then it soothes
