Xichen,” Huaisang says, “If I said I’m sorry, would that change anything?”

The sun will set. It always does. It feels final this time. Xichen dares, moves his hand, grasps Huaisang fingers light enough it could be imagination. But it isn’t. Huaisang winces and pulls away. Their eyes meet, and Xichen sees his empty face reflected.

"If I said I'm sorry, would it change anything for you?"

Anyways this art was inspired by the fic I wrote "Until the setting of the sun". Or rather the fic was inspired by the drawing idea of Xisang resigned to the fact that they can never go back to the same life. That they still love each other, but not enough to look past what happened. So I wanted to draw that last moment that they take to pretend they could still be happy.
