19XX年就被提出,以前比較常聽到在講資訊系統,後來各方面都有,2015的一本"The Silo Effect" (中文版在這)講商業組織就又紅到更多人知道囉。
其實silo不一定長成圓柱體,也不一定往上長(也有往下的),也不一定放穀物。 只是說到silo第一印象就會想到這種柱狀建築物...

Silos are bad for you and they stop your business from thriving. If you employ a lot of people, the teams of 150 need rotating and mixing regularly with members of different teams, to be exposed to different views and ideas rather than focus on defending their expertise.
Gillian challenged us to try following people with views opposite to ours, just for two weeks, so we stop surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals and try to see the world from a very different angle, or, as she calls it, different silo. This sounded interesting. But I am not sure how this would work in light of the recent snooping initiatives. Am I right in assuming that if you surround yourself with extremists, you will end up on the same list as they are? I.e. in the customised extremist silo?
On the networking scene, today for the first time I’ve experienced lots of interest towards cyber security People went out of their way to introduce me to their friends. I am STOKED for Big G on Saturday!! It's always a great time with Big G. Also excited for the $10 tickets to see Silo Effect and Former Champions! November is full of great music, wish I could see Phil Lesh and Bassnectar in NY this month, BUT I will be part of the 5 day run of Disco Biscuits for NYE in NYC. MHMM that's pretty exciting.
