Hive! It's tough to definitively pick 1 favorite out of 200, but gosh do I keep coming back to MAG 32! It's just so good, with the rambling writing, full of little hinting words (beholding!) and showing a true person behind the monster; the voice acting especially, and the confirmation that Jon isn't just a theater kid--aaaaaa so good <3

I even realized the short I'm writing for Rusty Fears accidentally turned out similar to this episode, and I'm thinking I should write a new one eheh n.n' Hive on the mind all the time

My brother turned on his laptop today for the first time in ages, and he was going through his saved Undertale art folder that has been transferred between computers and hard drives many times but probably not opened since 2018 at the latest. He said like 80% of the folder is corrupted now but images from this blog were his favorites, and while the corruption does make them even funnier, he wanted to try to find the originals again, but Undertale was before either of us had Tumblrs so we can't just check our reblogs. So I went looking through our chat history and found some sent image files and tried to reverse image search them, but I only got iFunny-branded Pinterest posts, so I was afraid that this blog had deleted at some point. Then after a deep dive through the Wayback Machine, going from tumblr to Twitter to Google to dang WATTPAD at one point and getting distracted by other art that was totally familiar but from deleted blogs ("but maybe the one I was looking for?? detour to check"), I finally found a screenshot of one of your posts that didn't have the name but had enough text for me to search, and at last...I am here.

The word "gsap" has been part of my vocabulary for six years now because of y'all, and my brother still sends the goop Gaster *angelic singings as a reaction image in chats. Really has been one of the most impactful blogs on our lives, even if brother only remembered the blog as "some spelling of fettuccine alfredo" which y'know is pretty hard to search for five years after the fact. Thanks for the memes! ❤️❤️ (and memes to come!! :O 💙💙)

(1/3) I don't wanna keep pushing Yugioh because I know that'll start to have the opposite effect, but also I didn't pick it up for years because I never got a proper summary of it; now it's one of only 4 manga series I own in full. Everyone just says "card games and friendship" because the anime had games that could last up to four episodes each and dragged on forever, plus 1.5 seasons of filler instead of adapting the first ~60 chapters of the manga. Meanwhile, the manga's like:

(2/3) High school boy that enjoys games is so lonely that he solves a cursed puzzle and gets possessed by the dark spirit of a gambler, and they use their combined gamer skills to play many games and make friends and also drive a man insane and burn another alive in book 1 alone. And then the author's editor was like, "Why don't you pick ONE game so we can make merch" so he grumbled and made the card game the focus, and while some duels are good, if there's a boring duel? Unlike the anime,

(3/3) you can skim it in a minute or two! However there're still good friends and a solid recurring rival and fairly in-depth Egyptology and (my favorite part) growing to be bros with the ghost in your head to the point of setting him up on a date by shoving control of your body into his hands and peacing tf out. If that's your cup of tea, 's up to you, but this has been my more accurate, meme-free, OG manga pitch! (oh, it's only sometimes a Jumanji situation, and motorbikes are the 3rd series)

Just a clarifying question, if I may: You list characters and OCs as a-okay, but what about perhaps real people in a more stylized/non-photorealistic style (from provided reference photos, of course)? (and holy shit I just realized if I wrote 'way' instead of 'style' like I considered then this would all rhyme, that wasn't intentional at all, wow I'm a poetic dork and I don't even like poetry, alright then n.n'')

real people would be fine too (I mentally count art of them as fanart anyway haha, since it’s not original art :33), but yes it would require more references!! and it will take a bit longer than usual, but that’s about it :33

Ah, it’s been a good first week!

There are parts of the work that seem a bit overwhelming, mostly because there’s like 3934 new things I gotta familiarize myself with. Do you have any idea how massive the source code is for Microsoft Word? Whatever you’re thinking right now, it’s larger. And the code is in C# (technically Script# I’m still learning the differences--like it’s a marriage of javascript and C#?) and I haven’t worked in either of those before. On top of that, the new pieces of code we’re trying to write are going to be in React, which uses Typescript which is a version of javascript and basically like, every single sentence I hear is at least 35% acronyms or buzzwords so I’m trying to get familiar.

Fun stuff though! There’s no set work hours. People come in when they want and leave when they want. Of course they gotta do it responsibly. If someone leaves early they’re probably gonna do some work from home, and like if there’s a meeting they gotta be around for it. But like literally no one is on your ass about where you are. In general I aim to be around for like 10am-5pm but I’m free to mess with that. Tuesday I did 10am-7:15pm. Yesterday I did 9:15am-4pm. Wednesday I was putting on makeup in the morning and my aunt got me this lipstick I was trying out and I very stupidly forgot lipstick takes like a fucking makeup removal army to get off so I spent like 15 panicked minutes in the morning getting it off and so I got in at like 10:10am but I wasnt “late” because like I technically dont need to be in at 10. I like that.

Other fun stuff is they got free beverages in the fridge--sodas and water and stuff. I’ve got like four bottles of “Hint Of” water on my desk. And a snack cart came around on Thursday with like chips and nuts and sodas and beer. Straight up beer. I took a soda but like. I coulda grabbed a beer off the cart and they’d have been like “alright cool”. And yesterday they brought in like 3985 donuts because it was Donut Day?? Legit it was on my calendar as a meeting “Donut Day, floor 15 cafeteria”. Everyone just kept going back to the kitchen throughout the day to get more donuts.

Also we’re like 15 feet away from the MIT campus (I swear about 40% of my coworkers are MIT graduates) so there’s a ton of college campus-y shit around. Including this food place called Clover which is all vegetarian sandwiches and im????? ready to die????? and haunt that place as a ghost for the rest of eternity in case i never get to try everything on the menu.

So I work in Cambridge but my apartment is in Boston. Downside--it’s about like a 30 minute commute. Upside, I get to cross this dang bridge.

Also we had an “intern event” on Wednesday where they took us interns to dinner and then to an improv comedy show. And I love nerdy ass comp sci majors because everyone was awkward when we first met up, like in a relaxing way like “hey we’re standing in a circle and personally I don’t know what to say but hey neither does anyone else! cool! im not the socially inept one!!” And the improv show was hilarious and we got ice cream after at this place with wild-ass flavors like I got “goat cheese honey almond” as a flavor, what the hell.

Let’s see also my apartment is nice! It’s fully furnished with like a couch and dishes and cookware and I got TWO tvs I hardly need one tv??? I watched the SU special on A Real TV so that was something. And there’s this tiny ass gym with two treadmills on floor 2 but frankly thats entirely good enough for me i can watch all the damn anime i want there and nothing can stop me.

Okay this is lengthy, but also I’ve got two college friends who live near Boston who are visiting today in like half an hour. We’re gonna do nerd stuff then later tonight I’m gonna get caught up on BNHA and it’ll be A+++

TL:DR - the work looks p intimidating but also literally everything else is swanky as fuck

I think it's all about writing preference. I find that forced or unrealistic similes can break the flow, but usually they just slow it down. For example, I feel my writing can be a bit fast, so I add similes to descriptors to make the pace distinguishably different between, say, walking through a park and an action scene. If you don't have a reason to dwell on an idea, though, then by all means don't add to it with metaphors. It certainly is just how you want to write

Any ten facts? Oh jeez, um…

1-      I’m incredibly indecisive, as in my friends will applaud if I actually make a decision

2-      I’m a very calm and indifferent person; quite the true neutral. The only super positive emotions I regularly feel come from video game/show announcements and hype, and dogs. Conversely, strong negative ones boil over from exposure to makeup, young children (especially crying ones), and romantic relationships.

3-      In the “Star Wars vs Star Trek” debate that every sci-fi fan is challenged with, I would say Star Trek. However, I actually prefer Stargate over both of them (SG-1 was the bomb)

4-      Expert procrastinator. My proudest/most shameful moment in homework history was writing a semester-long 5-7pg research paper on cinema in two-and-a-half days, research and watching required movies and all, and I somehow got an A- from a super tough grader. Heck, I’m procrastinating right now from other stuff by writing this

5-      Started martial arts in kindergarten. Now I have a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I was just a few months away from testing for another black in Haedong Kumdo when I had to move away from my dojang

6-      Halloween was a huge thing in high school, as in everyone and their teacher would dress up all day. I love group costumes, so my four years, I was China with a Hetalia group, Vriska with some Homestuck trolls, Hawkeye with the rest of the Avengers, and the Leia to my friend’s Han

7-      I have rather long hair, at almost three feet. Yes, it was short once. Yes, I get it trimmed an inch a couple times a year. No, I rarely brush it or do anything fancy with it. Yes, I have had nightmares where my hair is short. Yes, my friends have already told me if we ever swap bodies they’re gonna hold my hair hostage under threat of a haircut

8-      I’m a solipsist, in a way; I imagine life as an open-world RPG, where I’m playing as this character in the game of life. It’s full of main story missions, side quests, NPCs, questionable sleep habits, etc. Helps making logical decisions easier

9-      Practically grew up on video games. My first console of my own was the Gamecube, but ever since I could hold a controller as a toddler, I loved to play my dad’s Atari 5200. Still love console gaming, but warming up to PC since consoles were hard to bring to college

10-  At any given point, I could be much too quiet or too verbose
