This album of recent work by the talented Greek silversmith Thalia Maria Georgoulis marks her contribution to the "Collect” exhibition at London’ s Victoria and Albert Museum. The small objects for daily use she has created are the expressions of an art that is abstract and minimalist to the point of asceticism. Using in most cases no other means than cracks, breaks and gashes she gives apparently simple objects new dimensions and significance, shaping small poems in silver in homage to the beauty that we fail to notice in our everyday existence.

Got to eat a piece of this delicious cake (pink Valentine’s Day version) baked and decorated by my 14-year-old (!) nephew, Levi Eirinberg, a Master Chef Junior contestant. The same night I told his mom about my new blog. She and I may not share the same passion for this subject. 

It was a different feeling altogether to receive my “Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Vol. 15, James Chilton - Richard More” (aka, one of the “Silver Books” put out by the Mayflower Society) in the mail. Excitement, at first, to discover whether my research has been correct. Disappointment followed. 

It seems that I may have a tangle with the daughter of Susanna Winslow and Robert Latham (more on the misdeeds of those two at another time!). Will have to find out more. Luckily, it seems that one of their descendants, a William Latham, wrote a whole history of their adopted town of Bridgewater, Mass. More reading ahead!

An EPC contract is commonly negotiated to include the standard terms contained in the FIDIC "Silver Book". The EPC contractor assumes responsibility for integrating all the elements of design, construction and procurement and assuming the solvency risk down the supply chain.
