My favorite set piece from Elisabeth das Musical has got to be the mirror/frame in Wenn Ich Dein Spiegel Wär
When it's a mirror, it represents how Rudolph sees himself in Elisabeth, sensing that they share the same sensitive soul. That she might be the only one who can understand him. After all, not only is he her son, the way she educated him made him an individualist like herself which would prove miserable in such an oppressive environment.
At the same time, it represents how he doesn't really know his mother, except through her paintings. He doesn't know her touch, he doesn't have her time, he doesn't get her attention. All he can do as a son is gaze upon her pictures and imagine what she might be like. She's boxed in as an image, not a real person.
this is going to have me on my hands and knees dry heaving
what the FUCK man.
You know how some people talk about timeless themes in literature and you kind of low-key think they're full of shit? Sometimes they're not.

I just pulled an all-nighter to write three essays for a take-home-exam which I procrastinated working on for three days and in a very delirious state I declared Tiberius Gracchus, Appuleius Saturninus, Sulla and Octavian as the coffin bearers of the Roman Republic lol
stats.fm wrapped 2025
another wrapped, it's very interesting to see how this one differs from spotify
Hello, Elisabeth Tumblr fandom, here's a reminder that I have not one, not two, but three separate Elisabeth-themed Spotify playlists:
Elisabeth playlist: The Reluctant Empress
More or less maps out her storyline and mentality through the musical, with a big part being about her mentality during her travels. Contains a lot of MARINA songs
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3jie52knuegvUCb2hgzLWr?si=VyaTYwcNR_WbAZVXWa7gKQ&pi=SjHuY6GSQo6YF
Rudolf playlist: Sick of the Dying World Around Me
Moody, more or less my psychological dive into adult Rudolf via songs, tonal rollercoaster, contains a lot of songs by Fish in a Birdcage interspersed with songs from the musical
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6tfTBjR5RrbiXWtL8M89Nj?si=wavfE4_4Q7CXi2WmDNW95A&pi=7CwqdL8PR5iIU
Der Tod playlist: End with a Form and Name
This one starts off cunty, but turns more psychological towards the end. Contains a lot of Lady Gaga songs
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6RltuQ3MlkxhNgGLgQ1Teq?si=EBetY5q8Qsix-iyC-LIaxw&pi=Lx5JmT2VR9-mJ
ok but why did they have them perform in front of this painting

In your 20s, you'll feel like you're losing the race. It's important to understand that there is no race.
