“Not that I’m aware,” Remi frowns. “Look, I’m upset about this too. But I’m a low-powered villain who fights against some silly man with a gun that doesn’t even shoot bullets.”

“Oh, sure,” Ampy frowns. “Put the blame squarely on me. Circle my name as the source of this mess. Triangulate this wreck we’re tangled up in as being my fault.”

“Gravitate!” Microscope shouts. “Mickey!” Gravitate shouts in return.

Malum takes off his hat and does a sweeping bow. “Every— Ow.” He stands straight again and holds onto his stomach. “Right— Still injured— And I wanted to make a dramatic entrance and everything.”

         His stare lingered on the violin, the last notes long since having echoed throughout the Institute and yet, he could not look away from the instrument. The cold of early winter made him shiver, the dress shirt he wore not offering much warmth after having exerted himself so. Too much sweat clung to the fabric, soaked it through even and so, there was no protection against the chill to be found. Jem did not even have the strength to keep himself upright, uncertain of his footing, and so he did not bother to take off the material, rather reaching for his cane for much needed support. 

         Hearing the door creak open, witchlight pouring in through the crevices from the corridor, a faint smile painted itself upon his tired features. "Will? Is that you, Will?" he asked, even though he was fairly certain no other would venture here at such a late hour and did not truly require an answer. Turning slowly, his smile remained as silver met blue. That was, until a most terrible coughing fit interrupted this friendly greeting between parabatai.

Jem had just finished playing, his breathing hard and ragged as sweat soaked the material of his white cotton shirt, making it near transparent. Yet, when his parabatai came back from one of those so-called 'adventures', he still perked up considerably, sitting up at the edge of his bed with a quiet anticipation and a fond smile on his face. "Will."

He remembered looking at her all those years ago after the fight with the shinigami. "Riruka." He offered his hand out of her to take. "We should go, I will take you with me as my business grows and you will always have a job as long as I live." His lips twitched when he felt her hand in his own.  He looked up from his desk which was stacked with papers, his green eyes blinking as he got out of his reverie. He saw a flash of that pink hair as she walked past his glass office. He couldn't help but look at her, stare at her with intensity before looking away. Age had done her well, she had only aged gracefully, she barely looked older than twenty-one despite her being twenty-seven, and him twenty-six. He stopped writing, his pen dropping out of his hand as he stood up and opened the door to his office. "Oi, Ms. Dokugamine." He called after her in a calm voice. "I have something for you to do."
