Hey ! ^^ Hum... so many choices... I would go with "G" or "R" with April and Donnie pwease o-o (I'm sorry but I just can't get bored of your fanficts with those two ^^;) Thanks !
Author’s Notes: Set in the not so distant future. April is in her third year of college and needs some help studying. Donnie is feeling a touch of Spring fever. Rated T
April reached over the pile of hercalculus homework to grab her T-phone as it buzzed and skittered across thedesk. She slid her thumb over the screen and held the phone to her ear with adramatic sigh.
“Finally,” she said, not letting thecaller get in a word before rambling forward. “I thought you were lying in aditch somewhere. You’re not lying in a ditch somewhere, are you?”
“Uh, no. I’m not in a ditch, I just…”
“Good, great, I need your help,” shereplied, cutting him off. “My Calc three exam is tomorrow and, and I’m going tofail, Donnie. I know it. I keep looking down at this stuff and it’s like hieroglyphicsor something. I swear, I understood it in class and now, now it’s all jumbledtogether and I’m going to fail and I’m going to lose my scholarship and have todrop out and…”
“Take a deep breath,” he said, thecalmness in his voice only making her nerves fray further.
“I don’t have time to breathe,Donatello!” she insisted, her voice growing shriller with each syllable. “I’mgoing to fail this stupid test. I don’t fail things. I can’t. You have to comeover. You have to help me learn this stuff.”
There was an awkward pause on the otherend and she was certain she could hear him bite his bottom lip. “Oh, umm, I’mnot sure that’s…I mean, I can’t really…Master Splinter, ya see…”
“Aren’t you a ninja?” she demanded, pushing away from her desk to properly pace the room. “Sneak out!”
She took in a sharp breath through hernose and cursed the building pressure behind her eyes. “I need your help,Donnie.”
“All right…I’ll be right there,” he saidquietly. “Just, it’s going to be fine. You know this stuff. Take a step back. We’ll figure it out together.”
She nodded, forgetting that he couldn’tsee her. “Hurry up,” she said, holding the phone to her chest after hanging up.
She continued her pacing for what seemedlike an eternity only stopping when she heard the telltale knock on the window. He stood back on the fire escape as April heaved open the old window and took astep back to give him room. He ducked through the window, dropping his book-bagonto her bed. April moved towards him, stopping short when he made an awkwardlurch in the opposite direction. Her eyes narrowed slightly as suspicionmomentarily pushed aside her growing academic panic.
“Why weren’t you answering your phone?”she asked, trying and failing to force his gaze.
“I answered,” he mumbled, staringintently up at the ceiling.
“Uh huh,” April replied, tapping herfinger along her chin. “Everything is all right, then?”
He nodded with a little too much forceand moved his gaze from the ceiling to the floor and back again. “Yeah, fine, fine, everything is good. So, math…we should…math.”
April pressed her lips together in athin line and narrowed her focus to a pinpoint. She wasn’t trying to read histhoughts. That’s not how it worked, not really and she would never do somethingso invasive even if it was within her power. No, it was feelings and the shapeof thought that met her mind when she reached out for him. Donnie’s mind wassomething she had grown used to over the years, the rapid-fire patterns andtwists as familiar and comforting as her own. His mind was a bright, wonderfulplace that she couldn’t hope to unravel even if they had a lifetime together. That bright, shining, never stopping well of light and thought was not whatwaited for her this warm spring evening. It was something far simpler, something baser and the brashness of it made her blush.
A tiny, giggle escaped her mouth and sheslammed her hand over her mouth to stop it, but the damage was already done. His eyes widened and a sharp breath inhaled through his nose. The green of hisface deepened and she knew if she reached out to touch his skin it would bewarm to the touch.
“Stop it,” he said, shaking his head andpointing at her in accusation. “You shouldn’t…I didn’t…this was a bad idea. Imean, I’m not feeling well and this…here,” he dumped the contents of the bagonto her bedspread. “Study guides. I need to…to not,” he rambled off intosputtering non-words as April closed the gap between them with a teasing smirkon her face.
“You are looking a little flushed,” shesaid with a teasing pout, resting her hand along his face. “Warm.”
She watched his Adam’s apple move as heswallowed and felt the sharp pang of desire cloud his thoughts. He leaned intoher touch with a tilt of his head and a pained grimace. April knew the gentletouch would be enough to drive him crazy when he was like this. It was a littlecruel, but it’s not as though she was about to leave him high and dry. Maybe alittle break was just what she needed to clear her head; help her relax.
“You…you smell really good,” he said, nuzzling against her hand.
She pressed against him to feel the deeprumble in his chest reverberate throughout her entire body, making her fingersand toes tingle in anticipation. “You could have just said you were feelingthis way,” she murmured, trailing her fingers along the length of his arm. “Youknow I don’t mind…helping you feel better.”
The rumble in his chest churned into agrowl in his throat. “Am I that obvious?” he asked and she could hear the shameand regret clinging to that small question.
She smiled, taking hold of his faceuntil their eyes met. “Always,” she said quietly. “In everything. I can readyou like a book, ya know.”
A snort of a laugh broke bitter from hismouth. “Doesn’t really seem fair,” he said with a shy grimace that didn’t quitereach a smile. “I can never read you.”
April stood up on her tiptoes, pullinghis face towards her until their lips touched. The rumble was back and the handat her waist pulled her tight against his plastron. “How about I give you theCliff’s notes?” she asked, pulling him towards her bed with a wicked grin.
