Questions about the writing process.

✾ - What do you look for in other people’s writing?

Oof. This is highly subjective but let's give it a try.

Spelling & basic grammar. English isn't everyone's first language and I have nothing but respect for those who are fluent enough in a second language to roleplay in it. Simpler isn't always bad, and fancy isn't necessarily better. That being said, using periods and quotation marks properly is required at the very least. (I, for one, love Oxford commas.)

Voice. Writing is hard. I get it. But I need to be able to hear some fragment of your muse's voice through your words. This is easier to judge for canons because I can simply look at your previous threads and determine, and harder for original characters.

Show, don't tell. You can get purple prosey if you like. I do it sometimes too. But it has to add, not detract. Your writing should be descriptive enough to keep my attention, while also moving the plot forward. Employ the "show, don't tell" technique where needed and let me see into your muse's mind. Thoughts and senses combine with action and emotion to make something truly delightful to read. But not all the time. Know when it's necessary to pull back. 

Length. I can sometimes be lengthy. I am, very often, rather concise. Write as much as you need, or as little as you want, but if I consistently see you replying with 1-2 lines to something that's multiple paragraphs, that's either a sign that you're inconsiderate (i hope not), or out of muse (understandable). I'd rather someone drop a thread than try to force a response. Quality, not quantity, but please respect your roleplay partners enough not to write off their efforts.

Shipping-specific: ic and ooc chemistry. I love me ships plenty but I gotta be chill with you and your muse in order for that friendship/romance/rivalry to actually take root. You can be as shippy as you want in your responses but unless we've talked about it beforehand, it's not going to be reciprocated. I default to friendship anyway but at the same time, I don't want to feel shoe-horned into it either, you feel?

That read more like a list of roleplay essentials oops. I have high standards, but I also expect others to hold me to these standards. Roleplay, at the end of the day, is all about communication and it's a two-way street.
