🐉MONSTROSITIES🐉 TTRPG Zine Call for Submissions!

We're looking for submissions for the second issue of SilverScale Zine! The theme for the second issue is: Monstrosities

Submissions that follow the theme have priority, but it is not mandatory!

Have some homebrew from your table? Draw an interesting creature, item, or map? Want to gush about an indie ttrpg that deserves more love? We want to see it!

You keep all rights to your work! Submitting simply gives us permission to publish it (and all proceeds get distributed among the contributors).

The soft deadline for this issue is July 15th! This means we need a rough draft of any writing or a full-size WIP of any art by then, so we can start organizing the layouts.

The Table of Contents page for our first issue!

The beta zine preview has been sent to contributors and after last-minute critiques and finished artist blurbs are submitted, will go up on our itch.io page as a digital pdf.

Contributions for our next issue are open! The theme is: Monstrosities (though you can submit works unrelated to the theme)! Submit your works here!

Need Feedback on Your Homebrew?

We’ve received some amazing submissions and interest in a section for testing out items, creatures, feats, and more!

As such, we’re adding Bubbling Brews, a section just for homebrew submissions and targeted feedback! If interested, send us the content you want feedback on, a short author’s note that includes what kind of critique you’re looking for (more testing, worried about a particular ability, adjusting level, etc.), and your contact/socials if you wish to share!

These submissions will fall under the same conditions as any other: you own your content and just give us the right to publish it in our zine.

As a general zine update, we’ll be posting more about it in August as that’s when our editor will (hopefully) be done moving. We’re also interested in more art to feature throughout the zine! Most of the visuals are currently stock art, but we’d love to feature more from the community!

Last Call for 1st Issue, Taking Interest for the Next!

We're getting the last few contributors' socials, websites, and other shout-outs, but once those are secured and a sample is approved by all contributors, we'll be putting the zine up on Itch.io! (We're also looking for other storefront suggestions, particularly if there's one that has a per-product/update subscription style for those interested!)

Since we're doing last-minute updates, if you have a potential contribution ready to go, send it in! Make sure to include an artist's blurb and/or links to your socials!

We're also ready to start looking at themes and material for the next issue, most likely aiming for a summer release. Content submitted does not need to be in-theme, but themed content will be considered first!

September 2024 Update!

Hello everyone! I'm glad to see folks are interested in the Bubbling Brews (Homebrew Feedback), and we have a submission deadline update!

Deadline for priority submissions is OCTOBER 31, 2024!

What is a priority submission? These are articles, maps, dungeons, and other large pieces for the zine. Taking up 3/4 of a page (USA standard letter paper) or more, these pieces will take priority in our formatting of the zine. Proof of concept and estimated final length are needed for this submission, but a finalized piece does not need to be ready by then.

Based on the submissions at the end of October, a final deadline will be scheduled for sometime in mid-November to mid-December. The goal for release is January of 2025!

Here, we're sharing some progress and the design choices we're exploring with this sample page from @silverstreamrpg

We wanted a printer-friendly style that was also not completely black-and-white. Currently, we're looking at this very pale green as the default background color. In terms of structure, we want the pages to not always be huge walls of text, especially for dungeons and the like. So we're looking at breaking up the pages with art: custom-drawn, submitted, and found via copyright-free libraries.

As always, we're still accepting submissions! If you have any TTRPG-related art or writings, we're very happy to feature your work! Check out our pinned post for more information on submissions.
