Ok guys hear me out HEAR ME OUT.

Kai sees himself as a monster even if he not physically turned into one Yada yada. The real irony is that his monstrosity comes from his mental mind state and not his Physical form we all heard this BUT!

What if turning into a physical monster actually fixes him.

Like ok a large part of what defines Kai’s struggle is that he doesn’t really have a strong core self identity. Almost everything that defines him is because of other people so he falters significantly when he’s left alone.

That and self indulgently including notn in this discussion, he’s had to face the very real horrific idea that he could straight up lose his body. I imagine after that it would be difficult to recognize his body as his anymore.

It’s clear that Kai as we know and see him is not who he actually is, it’s what others expect of him to be.

So what if becoming a physical monster is him regaining a self identity? Having a body that’s his again? Being recognizable not as the guy who acts like jay but the guy who is Kai?

It can still fit with the idea that his true fear can be watching himself turn into a monster because often times when we spend so much time devaluing ourselves we lose sight of what it means to care for ourselves and we become scared of that change. Kai’s seeing it from a perspective of “I could never be myself again” instead of “this is a chance to be myself again”. He’s scared of the process of becoming a cocoon even if the butterfly at the end is what’s best for him at the moment.

You and Mylo were sleeping in his cave, he had you comfortably smushed in his large tail, which kept you lulled in sleep throughout the night. You were snoozing away soundly when his voice woke you up.

"Mmmhhh.. [name]..." He said quietly, could he have been talking in his sleep? It was barely more than a whisper. You wiggled your way up a bit so you were less squished in his tail so you could get a better view.

He was snoring as usual, "S..sweetie.." ..was that a moan? No, it wouldn't be, he's asleep how could he moan? That nickname just perked up your interest more. What was he dreaming about? You just kept resting on his tail, listening to him snore and mumble in between.

"My seastar.. " his face was flushing a deep shade of blue due to his skin, "Auuhh.. Sweetie.." This was becoming weirder. But you weren't complaining. It was hot, in a strange way. One thing you could complain about was his tail thumping against the ground now as he slept, and since you were lying on it it caused you to shake a bit, even if the part thumping was far away.

"F..feels good," By now it was way obvious that he was having a wet dream about you, who knew he could have one? Maybe this was normal for him? You could hear him quietly whimpering, his tail still thumping. Seeing him all pathetic like this was really sweet, cute even. Made you wonder if you could actually get him to be like that, rather than just in a dream.

He moaned softly, "B..baby.." He breathed, you could only imagine what his big dumb head was thinking of as he slept, you couldn't wait for him to wake up and ask him.

He suddenly gasped awake, immediately seeing you staring up at him and his face flushed again.

"I..I'm, uh.. Hey, sailor.." He tried to be nonchalant, clearly hoping he hadn't been vocal. If he had even thought that far. He was more likely just flustered from whatever it was exactly that you were doing [or being done] in his dreams.

"Soo, and you call me a lewd thing, huh?" You smirked, his eyes widened, "Oh, don't play dumb. C'mon, tell me what you were dreaming about, I get the gist of it."

"Well- uhm-" he buried his face in his tail, sighing, peeked out a bit to look at you, "If you get the gist, then you don't need everything," how sweet, a bargain. But you're not that easily persuaded.

"Spill it," you argued. He sighed semi-frustratedly.

"Fine-!" He snapped, no malice behind it though, "I.. was in my human form and we fucked, ...you fucked, specifically-" He didn't dare look at you out of embarrassment.

"Awwh," You crawled toward his face and gave him a peck on the nose, "Its alright, I'd probably do that, at least your head's accurate,"

"You're horrible, seastar," he grumbled, ruffling your hair with a clawed finger, you smiled. He huffed, pushing you back into his chubby tail, you groaned quietly as you relaxed again. He slowly started to doze off again, you just hoped he'd be vocal about his dream again.

IMO “ancient aliens built the pyramids and taught us agriculture” is a lot less interesting idea than “there were advanced technological aliens on Earth, but they went extinct millions of years before humans evolved.”

Their cities crumbled and were buried, their machines became junk and then dust, and the Earth forgot about them.
