The escape from Angband
A closer look at the faces for the Captured piece. My heart is heavy for Tar-Miriel and the soldier.
This piece has a lot going on. The two elements that haunt me the most are the soldier and Tar-Miriel. We know what is coming and they have only just glimpsed the beguiling of the end. Neither asked for this, deserved the consequences, or could stop the end to come.
The piece is divided and layer so that the West, eagles, ships, the soldier, and the Numenorean flag are in one half. Ar-Pharazon, Tar-Miriel, Romenna, and a blazing fire on the other. And then we have Sauron in the middle who is in chains. The stone beneath him is cracked and the lines are spreading. A plain, unadorned ring on his hand that seems to illuminate his expressionless face. And his appearance is ethereal.

I think the fall of Numenor speaks to so many aspects of our own lives in some ways. For my self, I am writing the Numenorean Fanfic on my stories blog as a sort of closure and therapy for abuse I suffered growing up. It isn't a self insert, but it helps me work though my hardship via this story which holds many parallels to my own. So, this piece means a lot to me.
At the end of the day this was fun to make. Thank you @riaayanami for the commission idea, I think it turned out well.
