Bato adjacent ocs 👀 👀 👀 pls share I’d love to hear :j
ok so they’re all solidly bato adjacent because when i try to make a relationship diagram, bato must be put in the center. i realize this will be long so um. there’s a chart and description of the chart and then an overview of each character :)
blue bubble is for canon characters, yellow for ocs. purple/blue lines depict romantic relationships, red lines for biological children, green for adoptive children, orange for siblings, turquoise for past romantic relationships.
bato in the center is connected to just. a lot of characters. he and hakoda are supposed to be connected by a blue line (denoting romantic relationship), though it looks purple here, and so are bato and kya and hakoda and kya. hakoda and kya are connected to sokka and katara by a red line (biological children), and bato is connected to sokka and katara by green lines (non biological parent/child relationship). sokka and katara are connected to each other with an orange line (siblings).
then bato is connected to a yellow bubble named “nanuq” by a green line, and “atka” with an orange line. atka and nanuq are connected by a red line. atka is bato’s sister and nanuq is his nephew. “sesi” is connected to atka by a magenta line, which means we haven’t quite decided what’s going on but they’re best friends and maybe something else.
bato is also connected to two yellow dots named “kyrna” and “noski” by turquoise lines (ex romantic relationship). noski and kyrna are connected by a purple line (romantic relationship) and are connected to “quyuq”, “simatuq” and jet by green lines. kyrna is connected to a yellow bubble named “mom binary” by a tuquoise line, and they are connected to “quyuq” by a red line. noski is connected to his sister by an orange line, who is connected to simatuq by a red line.
last one, jet is connected to “yu” by a purple line. lastly there is a pink bubble named “sergeant deathclaw meowattack” connected to bato with a pink line for pets. also, hakoda is connected to noski and sergeant deathclaw meowattack with a dark red line, denoting “negative emotions”
nanuq is our appropriation of the “i gotta pee” kid from the first episode. @kdmcolorfulmagic and @katarahairloopies shall be credited with his creation. he’s bato’s nephew who cares for after the war.
atka this is bato’s sister, probably one of the women in the background of the first episode. she passes away shortly after the bato of the water tribe episode :S
sesi is atka’s best friend who takes care of nanuq (and possibly was raising him with atka?) both atka and sesi are the work of @katarahairloopies <3
noski is bato’s ex husband and my #1 tool in making people cry. i’ll demonstrate this shortly. he and bato ended messily after failed attempts to start a family together :/ overall good and charismatic guy with some trouble talking about feelings or communicating in general. (face claim: rick mora) here is @vanderlindyhop‘s fic about him (blindly, 1.3k, rated T)
kyrna is bato’s first boyfriend. as a waterbender he was taken by the FN as a teenager along with his mother, but survived to be liberated after the war ended. and we fell in love with him and noski and thought... well they’re both single now so... (face claim: young eric schweig) here is my fic about him (feathers and bones, 2k, rated G)
quyuq is kyrna’s daughter with a past lover. she’s sort of his and noski’s adopted child, sort of just lives between their home and her mother’s home. she’s about sokka and katara’s age
simatuq is kyrna and noski’s adoptive daughter as well as noski’s niece. she’s a natural artist and wood carver!
yu is jet’s boyfriend :) more here he is a potter and a dork <3 created with a board of oc trustees but who i can think of off the topic of my head is @shortkingzuko
sargeant deathclaw meowattack is the bato and hakoda household cat. he was probably supposed to be the kids’ but he attached to bato and is the bane of hakoda’s existence. looks like this kitty :) also: he snuggles up to sokka when they’re alone and cries to get into sokka’s bedroom, but as soon as there’s a camera or another person, he acts like he hates sokka. sokka also named him, but everyone calls him Death for short (except Bato who calls him Sarge). image: bato sets down hakoda’s morning coffee with a “chief” and Death’s cat food with a “Sarge”
