At SimCon 40 at University of Rochester this weekend! We have dice jewelry, nerdy soap, and geeky buttons! If you're at the con, come on down to the Douglass Building and say hello! #simcon #gaming #conventions #universityofrochester🐝 #simcon40

Day 18: First gaming convention you ever attended?
SIMCON! Specifically, SIMCON 1, way back when SIMCON was part of URCON, an SF convention held at the University of Rochester (this was URCON III - URCON would go ahead and live one more year, then the group that ran it disbanded, leaving only the gaming club, URSGA to continue on from there.
Since then, I've been to dozens of cons - Rudicon at RIT, Atlanticon (now defunct), Origins and Gencon (both in Milwaukee and in Indianapolis), UBCON in Buffalo, Running GAGG at SUNY Geneseo, and so forth and so on. But SIMCON is still one of my favorite conventions - through the bad times, and the good, it's kept on going, for 36 years now.
