Puck Summerdream (age N/A):

Puck Summerdream is secretly an immortal fairy, so when he appeared to be murdered in course of a criminal investigation, he actually just had his magic drained and ended back in the fey realm for recuperation. It might be another decade or two before he can put together a human form again.

Before he was “murdered” Puck was one of the city’s best defense attorneys. He had a real talent for finding the wrongly accused, and an equal talent for arguing their innocence in court.

Since he’s not actually dead, Puck can occasionally pull together enough essence to give his old mentee, semi-competent defense attorney Mercutio Monty, a few hints in the courtroom. Together, they managed to convict his murderer.

Secret Passion: Cuff-links. And magic, of course. (Don’t tell Mercutio, but he always thought Merc was kind of cute.)

Mercutio Monty (age 25):

Mercutio is the first lawyer in the Monty family. The relatively unambitious scion of a long family line equally divided between investigative reporters and llama farmers, Mercutio fell in love with justice at an early age and never looked back. After his parents were killed in an “accidental” explosion at Sim City’s former Office of Prosecution, Mercutio was whisked off to the country and raised by his grandparents.

When he returned to in city, shiny new law degree in hand, he ended up under the wing of veteran defense attorney/champion of the innocent Puck Summerdream. After Summerdream’s tragic apparent death, Mercutio managed to both clear the name of his wrongly accused client and find the actual killer, which prompted him to open his own law office. He just hopes he can help a few of the underdogs caught in the grinding wheels of the city’s frequently ridiculous justice system.

So far he’s had exactly two solo cases, and one of them involved an action figure. He really needs to stop answering the door for the neighbor’s kids.

Secret Passion: Prosecutor Tybalt Capp who? No way, that guy’s a total jerk. He’s not cute at all. Who’s been nursing a crush on him since third grade? Definitely not Mercutio Monty.

What? Oh. Um, he used be really into stage magic last year as a kid.

Bottom Summerdream (age 18):

Bottom is the younger sister of the recently de-bodied Puck Summerdream. She and Mercutio met during the trial for her brother’s murder. Now that Puck’s gone, Bottom feels obliged to help Mercutio out with his practice in her brother’s place.

Whether he likes it or not.

Bottom’s not as talented as her brother (legally or magically) but she is the easiest way for his spirit to communicate with the human world. When she’s hosting his essence, one of her eyes turns from green to light blue.

Bottom has a keen talent for sensing the hidden motivations and lies of mortals, but she’d rather be clairvoyant.

Secret Passion: She loves hamburgers and westerns.

Tybalt Capp (age 25):

Tybalt Capp is a prodigy. He’s one of the best prosecutors in the city, he’s never lost a case, and he’s definitely never faked evidence to get a conviction and maintain his perfect record. Some people are just jealous of his tremendous success and his amazing car/hair.

Tybalt’s mother died shortly after he was born. He was raised by his father, the city’s former top Prosecutor, until his father was killed in a mysterious explosion at the city’s old prosecutors’ office. Tybalt wants nothing more than to carry on his father’s legacy by convicting the criminal scum that infest the city. He’s been training for this since birth.

Secret Passion: The Platinum Plenipotentiary! He’s an interplanetary diplomat who fights for justice in his robot suit. He’s brave and honest and  . . .

No, it is not a cartoon.

Mercutio who?

Miranda Capp (age 25):

When she was in the third grade, Miranda and her cousin Tybalt were directly responsible for inspiring Mercutio Monty's passion for justice. There was an incident with some stolen lunch money and a false accusation . . . You can ask Mercutio, he talks about it all the time. But he’s a good guy! This one time he helped get her off a murder charge.

Miranda doesn’t exactly share the local devotion to the law. She’s more of a people person. Which is why she has a new boyfriend/job every couple of months. She likes trying new things! And meeting new people! Her mom calls it “flighty” and “commitment-phobic” and “dangerously irresponsible”, but Miranda prefers to think of herself as spontaneous.

And you never know! The next guy could be Mr. Right.

Secret Passion:  She’s always dreamed of starting her own band, but the neighbors keep filing noise complaints when she tries to practice.

Albany Capp (age 47):

Albany’s wife is an important producer at the local news station, but he’s okay with just being a cop. A family only really needs one huge success, right?

Now that he’s made detective, Albany always seems to wind up reporting directly to his nephew, famous prosecutor Tybalt Capp. It’s a little awkward, but Albany knows talent when he sees it, and it’s an honor to work for the best.

Albany Capp is a very dogged detective, but he’s also the kind of guy who gets accidentally punched in the face during every arrest. Hey, look, being eager isn’t a crime.

Secret Passion: His wife and adorable kids - that’s not a secret? Okay, well, he does really like otters.
