I want... a short story of Simon's life between putting on the crown and when he met Marceline.. like did he start uh. doing research on the crown immediately? Or was it more like "well THAT certainly happened" and then he continued teaching (or tried) for a bit before Something happened, like the start of the Mushroom War?

Slightly half-baked but I was thinking about Simon's life before the Mushroom War/Ice Crown, 

Simon, back in old human times, being extremely critical of University Bullshit and other problems with the educational system in private. And, even though his job kind of depends on the funding from universities, so he has to pretend that things are fine, he does make efforts to try and make things better.

Either that, or Simon has SOME idea that there’s problems with the educational system but because he benefits from it, actively chooses to not think about them. Then after finding the Ice Crown and/or after the Mushroom War begins, he starts to think more critically about his old university and is like, “Wow, that... those things were bullshit...”
