Simon Says... (Loki x Reader)
So all of this was inspired by a tiktok by wandasxscarlet that has now been deleted but it lives rent free in my head. Anyways, I had fun writing this, I’m not sure if it’s what any of yall expected or not but it was fun to write and that’s all that matters 😋
Summary: Loki cannot tell you why you will do anything, anyone commands if they put Simon says before their command but he comes to like using it on you, and liking you as well.
When Loki first hears the words that will make you do anything you’re not quite friends, more like acquaintances. He’s sitting in the dining room enjoying a coffee, actually having a calm conversation with Thor who drinks hot cocoa. Steve sits across from you and sees that you’re about to get up and not finish the food on your plate. Normally, he would let you but yesterday you had a grueling mission and you needed to eat to refill your energy, in case the Avengers get called out.
“Simon says finish your food.” Steve says, his tone commanding as he lifts his coffee to his lips and takes a sip. When you look at him in shock he raises an eyebrow over his steaming mug. Deny me, I dare you, his face reads. You chew on your lip but your shoulders sag and you get comfortable in your seat again so you may start eating what was left over, if not with an agitated scowl. Saying Simon says was a low blow but you can’t fault Steve because if he had simply asked you would have denied him.
Loki watches the whole exchange with curiosity, his conversation with Thor put on hold when Steve spoke up. When things go back to being quiet Loki looks back at Thor and carries on as if nothing happened. His mind ponders over this Simon man though.
~~~
This time Loki encounters Simon’s control when he’s up at 4 A.M. with you and Tony.
“You need to sleep!” Tony yelps when you pinch his side.
“So do you, you’re human too!” You reply with a snicker.
“Honey, my body runs on coffee, depression, and sheer determination, I don’t need sleep for another three days.”
“I’ll go to sleep if you go to sleep first.” You turn it into a competition. Loki only wonders why you’re both too stubborn to just sleep. He understands mortal lives are short but isn’t sleep required to feel good each day? “Do mortals not require at least eight hours of sleep?” Loki asks, curious.
You’re quick to look at him, your determined to win face softening to something more casual. “At our age, seven or more, ya.” Which in no way explains to Loki why you’re both fighting about sleep, it just leaves him with more questions but he stays quiet.
“I will not lose, I can stay awake much longer than you!” Tony exclaims stubbornly.
“Well then, looks like we should put another movie on ‘cuz sleep is for the weak.”
Loki rolls his eyes. So stubborn, he would admire this if it wasn’t used for petty arguments like this.
“Oh ya?” Tony says in a dangerous tone, his eyes flashing with mischief. Loki sits up a little straighter, curious as to what trick Tony has up his sleeve.
“No! That’s low Tony, don’t you dare!” You yell out as you point an accusatory finger at him, your face paling.
“Simon says go to sleep.”
Loki watches as you take in a deep breath and glare at Tony murderously. Loki has to admire how well you pull off the death glare.
“Asshole.” You mutter as you stand up and leave in a huff, Tony cackling from his spot. Loki assumes you’re headed to your room to sleep.
Who was this Simon guy and why does he have so much power over your actions? Was he your boss? A dictator of your life that you followed out of fear? But if so, why would the Avengers treat it as a game, as if you’re not in danger? For this reason, Loki realizes that Simon has control but it’s not of any real danger to your life.
Curious, very curious.
~~~
The next time Loki hears of Simon it’s after a particular mission involving lots of sharp objects stuck to robots. Some kids at NYU made a bunch of small robots that possess sharp knives and the AI of said robots began attacking innocent students around campus. When the robots got out onto the streets of NYC Fury took it upon himself to call the Avengers out to stop this hazard if only for good PR.
You didn’t have a good fight when three of them cornered you and you now sport wide gashes on your thighs and hip. Loki had swooped in just in time to help you and even carried you to the medical team.
“I don’t need medical, I’m fine.” You tell Loki who is flabbergasted. Shouldn’t you be in more pain? Perhaps you still had adrenaline rushing through your blood that spills over your legs.
“They might not have hit any major arteries but you may still bleed out if you’re not attended to properly.” Loki tells you as he holds you bridal style near the medical team.
“I’m fine.” You snap, wrapping your arms around his neck in a tighter hold and a look of pure spite takes over your face. Loki can’t help rolling his eyes at your callowness, however cute he finds it.
That’s when Natasha walks up with one look and says those magic words. “Simon says go with medical and get stitched up.”
You sag in Loki’s arms and nod reluctantly.
Loki is blown away. As he sets you on a gurney the medical team brings over he nearly asks who Simon is but decides to keep his lips shut and watch the medical team scurry off with you silently stewing, your arms crossed like a petulant child. Loki shakes his head and, luckily, no one sees the small upwards twitch of his lips.
~~~
With all this thought of Simon, Loki finds himself drawn to you. He finds himself making excuses to hang around you, to participate in whatever you get up to daily. He finds he enjoys your company but he won’t ever admit that out loud.
“So, you are saying the economy is so bad, here in America, that people go to work while sick?” Loki watches you smile at how ludicrous it sounds.
“Yes. They’ll risk infecting others because jobs are either so strict they’ll get fired or they can’t afford to miss a day.”
Loki is appalled to say the least. Your laughter at his facial reaction makes him smile a bit. “That is absolutely barbaric.”
“Ya, wait until I tell you about health insurance.” You laugh out with excitement.
Loki becomes curious but the moment is broken when Clint bursts into the common area with Tony and Natasha behind him.
“Hey! We’re gonna play Never Have I Ever, wanna join?” Clint asks excitedly, Tony passing him to reach his bar and grab some bottles of liquor.
You turn to Loki who raises an eyebrow. “I do not know what this game is.”
“Basically you say never have i ever, then a scenario, like ride a bike, and if you’ve done it you take a shot, if you haven’t you don’t take a shot.”
“Thor left some Asgardian stuff if you want to join!” Tony yells from the bar, his head popping from under the bar to look at you both.
Loki looks at you for an answer.
“I’ll join, Tony, grab me some rum, dark please!” You yell at the genius who rummages through his stock.
Loki nods. “I shall join as well.”
When everyone is settled on the floor, in a small circle, each person with their own bottle, Clint starts things off.
“Never have I ever done something illegal!”
You take a drink along with everyone else. Clint’s eyebrows shoot up as you set your bottle down. “What have you done? Out of everyone I really didn’t expect you to drink.”
You snicker as you remember a fond memory. “I used to hack into my uni’s registrar and delete people’s debt.”
“Of course the illegal thing you do is courageous.” Tony mutters, Natasha chuckles. Loki looks impressed.
Tony is next. “Never have I ever...made a porno.”
You hesitate but pick up your bottle and take a shot with Natasha, who winks at you.
“Now, that I have to see.” Tony says once he has taken his own shot. Clint and Loki not drinking anything. Loki looks at you with curious eyes. You feel a laugh bubble out. “No.” Is all you state and Loki smirks. You turn to look at Natasha. “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours?”
Natasha’s lips twitch up, she leans over to you to whisper in your ear. The men of the room all lean a bit closer to both of you, practically drooling. When she pulls back you make a show of it, let you hand come up and caress at her jaw, your lips hovering near hers, Natasha acts with you too, making the scene even more erotic, then the moment is over and you’re both back to sitting in your spots in casual positions. You both smirk Cheshire-like at the men.
“Loki, your turn.” You say deviously to the god who at least doesn’t have his chin on the floor but his eyes were drinking up the show with appreciation. He blinks and looks down at his bottle.
“Never have I ever had a wet dream about one of my teammates.” Loki says, a smirk on his face when he brings his bottle to his lips. Everyone but you takes a swig. You stare at your bottle with furious concentration.
“Take a drink, you’re not immune to being surrounded by men at their peak physicality.” Clint jeers.
You smile and take a swig. “Who said I’m not into women too?”
Clint ‘Ooo’s.
The night proceeds with salacious questions and cheers when unexpected drinks are taken.
You’re drunk, there’s no denying that but you’re having too much fun to stop. You struggle to bring the bottle to your lips, some of the alcohol dripping down your chin as you miss your mouth.
“I think it is time you laid to rest.” Loki tells you softly, his cheeks flustered but otherwise he seems fine.
“No, ‘m having fun!” You whine as he tries to pull the bottle of rum from you.
“Please?” You don’t realize that everyone freezes when Loki says this. It’s the first time they’ve heard him use the word. It’s the first time you’ve heard him use it too but you’re too focused on keeping your bottle of rum to notice.
You huff and hug the bottle closer to yourself, Loki’s hand not leaving the bottle so you end up cuddling it into yourself too.
“Simon says stop drinking.” Clint says from his spot, his voice still portraying shock from Loki’s little scene.
“Clint!” You whine out, letting Loki take the bottle from you. He gives Clint a small thank you and helps you stand up after he sets the bottle aside near Tony.
“To bed, come on.” Loki tells you as he helps you walk to the elevator. He totally doesn’t chuckle when you run into a few walls on the way to your room.
“Suppose to help me!” You yelp when you run into another wall. Loki lets out a genuine laugh this time.
“I would if this wasn’t so amusing.” Loki says but grabs ahold of your shoulders and lets you walk in front of him, kind of helping you not run into walls. When you manage to run into another wall anyways he lets out an inelegant snort.
“How on Earth you managed that, I’ve no clue.” The god laughs out.
“Shut up. ’m gonna be bruised all over tomorrow and then you’ll feel bad!”
By the time you both reach your bed Loki is breathless from laughing and you have a deep pout settled on your face.
“Hate you.” You mumble as you get under your covers by kicking and flinging your appendages in playful anger. Loki is quick to put a hand on your kicking legs and when you settle down he tucks you in properly.
“Good night.” He mutters to you.
“Wait! ‘ou can’t leave!” Your arms shoot out from under the covers and grab ahold of his hand in delirious desperation.
“I cannot sleep with you, darling.” Loki calmly explains.
“Don’ wanna sleep alone.” You sulk.
Loki sighs as he looks over your pitiful face. “Fine. I shall stay until you fall asleep, no longer.” He acquiesces. He is quick to climb into bed next to you and startles when you immediately cuddle up to him. Your head laying on his chest, your arms wrapping around him.
“G’night.” You mumble in his chest.
Loki stares up at the ceiling with horror dawning on his face, not because of your physical contact, that was fine, the fact that he likes it is throwing him for a loop. Perhaps he had a bit too much of the Asgardian wine, yes, that explains everything.
Loki sighs and settles, his arms wrapping around you. He doesn’t leave when your breathing levels out, not because he can’t but because he doesn’t want to. He has come to accept his fate by the time you nod off.
Come morning, Loki blinks his eyes open to find you looking up at him from his chest. He raises an eyebrow. “Speak.” His commanding voice comes out husky.
You fumble with your words but get your point across, “Uh, I-I erm, sorry?”
Loki sighs as he settles his head back into your pillow, his eyes closing. His head is throbbing, like it always does when he drinks wine. “Do you have regrets?” About this, us? goes unspoken.
“Ah...no.”
“Good. Go back to sleep, I have a headache and if you force me to get up right now I will be a living hell.” Loki freely admits causing you to laugh lightly.
“Ok.” You whisper, settling your head back on his chest and easing into sleep once more, surrounded by Loki’s warmth.
~~~
Things get awkward after that morning only because Loki is reeling over these new emotions for you and you because...well you were already socially awkward, romantically you’re even worse. Loki finds it to be...cute.
“Good morning, Loki.” You say in a chipper tone as he walks through the kitchen to grab him some breakfast. Tony huffs. “Why does he get a good morning but I don’t?”
Loki watches with glee as you stutter and become red. “Good morning, Tony?”
“I’m just messing with ya, kid.” Tony laughs as he passes you, clapping a hand on your shoulder that rattles you and causes you to let out an awkward laugh.
“Right.” You breathe out, shaking your head.
“Good morning, darling.” Loki slips out, his eyes watching your reaction to his pet name under his lashes as he loads a plate up with food. He hides a smirk when you drop the toast you had picked up, choking on the bite you had taken from it. Loki is quick to pat your back with a faux concerned face. “Be careful, sweet, it would be a shame to die by the hand of a bagel.”
Loki sees the realization hit you like a ton of bricks, your wide eyes finding his and squinting suspiciously at his little games. He smirks as you finish gathering your breakfast and find a seat in the dining room, following you so he may sit next to you.
You dig into your food seeing how greasy food supposedly helps hangovers. Yours isn’t bad luckily, you’ve always been lucky about alcohol and its effect on you. You get all the fun and regret while waking up mostly fine the next morning. Today you suffer a minor headache and mild nausea but it’s something easily remedied. Loki looks like a god, all glow and hidden smiles because of course he does.
Bruce comes along and sits across from you and Loki, next to Tony with a small, bland breakfast. He gives a small good morning to everyone then digs into his meal.
You feel like your nerves are alight with life, shifting in your seat every few minutes, playing with your food as you chew on your bites, trying to guess what trickery Loki has planned for you since he’s messing with you. When you look over at the person who’s the cause of your nervousness you see he looks at you with a mischievous smirk.
You let out a silent huff and look at your food again, shuffling in your chair again.
“Simon says sit still.” You hear Bruce murmur. When you look at him his eyes watch you curiously but his body language says that he’s nervous. You must have made him nervous by acting nervous, whoops…
“Sorry.” You say embarrassingly, your cheeks burning as you still yourself. Loki’s small chuckle earning him a glare.
“Ok, did you two sleep together? Loki is glowing and you’re acting like a shy, deflowered virgin, what’s going on?” Tony asks over a sip of his coffee.
The question is enough for you to drop your fork with a slack jawed look on your face.
“No!” You yelp out incredulously.
“You don’t have to sound like it is something horrid.” Loki scoffs out.
You look at Loki with wide eyes. “I-I didn’t-” He watches you with a blank face but his eyes flash with amusement.
“So, you didn’t sleep together?”
“Tony!” You cry looking from Loki to Tony who looks confused. “Argh!” You get up and leave the dining room in a rush, not even putting up your plate or finishing your breakfast in embarrassment.
~~~
Loki has the Simon says thing figured out now because Bruce and Tony explained the game to him over breakfast once you left. He’s not sure why it works on you but that’s irrelevant because now he has a way to make you do anything for him and you will not refuse.
Loki gives you the rest of the day to fight off your embarrassment, the testing phase of his plan coming together and put into action the next day.
You and Loki had been sharing conversation but Thor stopped by and asked if Loki would like to spar so Loki is getting ready to leave when he throws his plan into action.
You watch as Loki looks at you with interest, his eyes looking you up and down, and it makes you suspicious.
“What?” You ask confused.
“Simon says to kneel.”
You gape at Loki who watches you doubtfully. You let out a noise that sounds like a growl but obey. You kneel in front of Loki as he smirks triumphantly.
What you don’t expect is for Loki to bend over and trail his finger from the back of your jaw to your chin and pur out, “Good girl.” Then he’s standing upright and leaving you there, red as a tomato and, oddly enough, prideful.
The next time Loki tries it is when you’re out window shopping with him. You had needed some fresh air and wanted to see what was trendy nowadays so you dragged Loki along with you, although dragged is perhaps not the best word seeing as Loki was quick to agree to come with you.
You’re looking at some stylish mannequins when you realize Loki is staring at you.
“You’re making this a habit.” You point out.
“What?” Loki asks with a furrowed brow.
“Staring, you’ve been doing it a lot recently.”
Loki looks away from you but you don’t miss the slight flush to his cheeks. He clears his throat and looks back at you. “Simon says hold my hand.”
You feel your heart stutter, your breath coming to a sudden halt, then the world is rushing back to you and you’re grabbing his hand with a small smile. As if he needed to use Simon says to hold your hand but you don’t say anything. You merely pull on his hand so he’ll fall beside you as you start walking New York’s streets once again. Both of you have satisfied smirks on your lips.
His hand engulfs yours, keeps it warm, and the weight of it is comforting. You caress your thumb over his hand and that earns you a slight squeeze.
~~~
You’re next to Loki as you watch Stark’s party hum with laughter and life.
Loki looks as if he’s in his element. He holds himself with oozing confidence, the perfect ‘cameras are watching’ smile that practically dazzles like a toothpaste commercial. He speaks about topics people bring up with a practiced diplomacy. When you have a moment alone with the god you bring this up. “On Asgard, were parties such as these normal?”
Loki takes a sip of his cocktail, a Cosmopolitan, and gives you an appreciative look. “You have a keen eye for detail, darling. Yes, I am used to being somewhat of a socialite, as you Midgardians would call it.”
You hum thoughtfully. “I can’t say I envy you, I don’t think I would do well as a socialite.”
“You have done well so far.”
“That’s because you’re by my side.” You admit without hesitation. You miss the soft look Loki gives you because you’re busy looking at the party.
“Simon says dance with me?” You hear Loki ask you. His voice is gentle but it tilts at the end to make it a question more than a command. You look at Loki in shock although you’re not quite sure why. There has been something going on between the both of you, something more than just friends but not quite classified as dating.
“Yes.” You respond, watching Loki set his drink aside and hold a hand out for you with a smile. You take his hand and he leads you to the dancefloor, a slow song playing.
“I do have to warn you, I haven’t danced in years.” You whisper in Loki’s ear as you settle into his hold. He has one hand on your hip, the other outstretched and holding your hand in his.
“Follow me.” He whispers back as you both begin to move fluidly through the crowd.
All of Loki’s moves are elegant, graceful, and you follow his every move, matching his dance with your own in a way that makes you two puzzle pieces that fall together nicely. You’re waltzing with Loki and that’s enough to make you breathless and lightly laugh into the shared space between the two of you with giddiness. Loki returns your laugh with his own smile. You can’t help but admire that Loki looks comfortable here with you, dancing between all these people.
When the song ends Loki doesn’t let go of you but stops waltzing to instead sway from side to side in one spot. A new song comes on, just as slow as the last. His hands fall to your hips and your own arms wrap around his neck. You settle your head on his shoulder, your face in his neck now.
“You did wonderful, darling.” Loki compliments you in a whisper.
“I'm lucky I have such a good partner.” You tease.
For a few seconds you both just sway to the music, enjoying each other’s bodies, taking in the intimacy of the dancing with foolhardy swallows, as if you’re both desperate for it.
“Is it fair to assume there is something happening between us?” Loki finally asks, causing you to pull from his neck and look at him.
“That’s a fair assumption, yes.”
Loki tries to fight off a smile as he asks his next question. “Is it fair to assume you’re mine and only mine?”
“Are you asking if we’re exclusive?”
Loki gives a short nod. You wait a few seconds, build up suspension then answer with a smile. “Yes.”
Loki blinks, smiles. “Good.” He breathes out.
~~~
The next day you wake up with a hop in your step, overwhelmed with giddiness. After the party had ended you and Loki had sat on the balcony talking about everything and nothing as you held hands and looked across the stars and city skyline. He had told you stories of his childhood, how he used to prank Thor and his friends, how his mother taught him magic, and how he misses the extensive library that used to be at his disposal. You shared your own stories telling him of trips you took with your family, how you came up on Shield’s radar, why you became an Avenger. It was perfect and you wouldn’t change a thing about it.
When you walk into the kitchen this morning Steve is the one to point out your chipper attitude.
“What has you glowing today? You look like you’ve discovered the answers of the universe.”
“Something like that.” You chirp out. Making your way to the coffee machine, Loki near it as he makes his tea. You bump his hip with yours and giggle as you pour yourself a cup of coffee. Loki slips an arm across your waist and kisses your forehead.
“Good morning, darling.” He whispers and then he’s back to his tea.
“Oh.” Steve remarks in shock. When you turn to look at him he looks between you and Loki with wide eyes. You smile and walk past him to grab a plate and breakfast, he’s muttering something about fondue when you do pass but you don’t question it.
Breakfast passes uneventfully and leads to you and Loki settling on the couch on your floor after.
To your surprise it’s Loki who nods off first. You’re both cuddled up, Loki sitting back comfortably, his arms hugging you to him. You snuffle into his side, your arms wrapped around him and your head settled on his shoulder. When you look up Loki’s head is tilted back, resting on the couch, with his mouth hanging open. It’s an adorable look on the god seeing as you always see him put together and handsome. To know that even Loki has his moments of inelegance soothes your soul.
You yawn and get comfortable on Loki so you too may rest your eyes a bit longer.
The next time you wake up Loki is still out cold. You take this time to simply admire him. By now he has moved a bit and his mouth is shut once more, his face tilted to the side, his eyes flickering under his eyelids as he dreams. You’re not sure how long you sit there just soaking in Loki’s features but it’s long enough that Loki blinks his eyes open and finds yours. He smiles and brings a hand up to cup your jaw.
“Simon says kiss me.” Loki whispers with a small smile. You match his smile and lean in to kiss him. It’s a simple peck but it has Loki smiling wide. “Your lips are dangerous for me.” He says as he caresses your cheek with his thumb.
“How so?” You whisper back, leaning in once more to kiss him again, this time lingering for a few seconds before you pull away. Loki doesn’t respond until his eyes have opened once again. “Because I would do anything you ask of me just to taste them again.”
You hum thoughtfully, your hand coming up to trail a finger over Loki’s soft lips, your eyes following the movement. Loki juts his tongue out in a quick movement, barely licking your finger and causing you to smile once again. “Anything?” You ask, your eyes finding Loki’s who stare back with utter devotion.
“Anything.”
“Never ask for a kiss with Simon says ever again, I will gladly give you anything without it.”
Loki growls and you shriek when he moves the both of you into a much more salacious position. Loki hovers over you on the couch, his hands pinning the both of yours above your head, his thigh coming to part your legs then settle against your clothed core. You look back at him with dripping desire, his own eyes dilating as he looks down at you.
“To give me anything is like a deal with the devil. How do you know you can trust me?” Loki asks in a low tone as he leans down and begins nipping at your neck.
You sigh as his mouth works at your delicate skin, your hands struggling against his hold and it only earns you a dark chuckle and tut tut.
“Because you’re wrapped around my finger, you won’t betray me.” You finally respond to his question. Loki slides his lips up the skin of your neck to your lips and hovers, close enough to touch your lips with his.
“How can you be so sure?” Loki murmurs, his lips brushing over yours that are slightly parted.
“Because if I told you to stop, to leave me and never come back,” You look into his eyes as you say this, the tip of your nose brushing against his. “You would do it, wouldn’t you?”
You watch Loki’s eyes, seeing the look of undeniable acceptance brew in them. “Yes...I would.” He admits in a gentle voice.
You smirk up at the god who is faithful to you. “On the outside it may seem I am yours but truthfully, you are mine.” At the word mine Loki growls and kisses you. It’s a bit rough but Loki is ever so careful, making sure your teeth don’t meet, making sure he doesn’t bite your lip too hard, ever rowdy but just as thoughtful.
Loki keeps both of your hands pinned with one hand, his now free hand coming to slide down your side, slipping under the hem of your shirt and caressing the skin on your stomach with delicate touches. You gasp at the skin on skin contact of his cold hand and Loki uses that moment to slip his tongue into your mouth. You take it with stride, sucking and playing with it with your own tongue. At your reaction Loki lets out a soft moan into your mouth.
You blink open your eyes when Loki pulls from the kiss, halting all movement.
“I am sorry but if we continue I may be unable to stop.” He explains breathlessly, his cheeks flushed with desire. You chuckle and nod at him, not quite ready for this to transcend either, no matter how much your body claims to need it right now.
Loki sits up, pulling you with him so you both lay on the couch cuddled once again, this time laying down horizontally instead of sitting up. His fingers trail over your back as you rest with your cheek to his chest. His heart beat is fast under your cheek, just as yours is.
“I have to warn you, before this goes any further, what is it you mortals say? I have a lot of baggage.” Loki speaks into the open air, filling the bubble you two create with his soothing voice.
You shrug. “I do too, that’s natural.”
“I am afraid mine is...well, it’s heavy, I do not cope with emotions well, I lash out and hurt those I care about to protect myself when I feel vulnerable. I’m afraid of being alone, I have a dysfunctional family, the list could go on, truly.”
You squeeze Loki. “I’m willing to work through all those problems so long as you stay by my side I will stay by yours and support you no matter what.” You say in a soft voice. Loki’s hands settle on your back and he simply holds you.
“I’m not quite sure what I did to deserve you, darling, but I am completely and irrevocably yours now.”
You don’t reply, leave the poetic words hanging in the air and absorb them with closed eyes.
“Mine.” You finally whisper a minute later, blissed out in this moment with Loki.
