the 141 finding out reader isn't a guy behind their mask (fem reader x simon) request from @wolfiemagic
You joined the 141 almost a year ago, everything was great, minus one small detail. They all thought you were a guy. You wore a mask just like Simon, originally you got it to help blend in during missions but just like Simon you grew to love it and wear it daily. The 141 never asked about it, or pried you to take it off, probably because they were used to Simon, that's what made you stay. But because of that mask, they never saw you, and they had just assumed you were also a guy, and well you never corrected them.
It was far from the first time someone assumed you were a guy, most of the time you just let people assume that. When they know you're a girl they tend to look down on you and doubt you, it just got easier for you if they thought you were a guy. You've had people straight up ignore you, but that never happens when they think you're a guy. You've been with the 141 long enough to know they don't think like that, but now it just seems so weird to tell them, and a part of you is worried they'll be mad that you lied to them.
Honestly at first you weren't sure how you had gotten away with it, but over the years you've started piecing things together. Your callsign was bird because you had a deeper voice than the average girl, but a higher voice than the average guy. The callsign made people stop asking about your unusually high voice, they just accepted you were a guy with a higher voice, but they definitely made fun of you for it. Every month you claimed to be sick, and no one ever paid enough attention to the dates to see the consistency, Soap just joked that you had the worst immune system. You always wore baggy clothes, not to hide your identity but just because you liked it. You tended to wear a binder during training, honestly you just preferred it over a sports bra.
The most confusing thing to you was Price. He had looked over your chart, including your medical shit, so either he somehow didn't notice or he was just playing along. You later learned while out drinking with them that Price always asks Laswell to only give him the important bits of information, too much paper work he said, apparently this didn't include your sex. You later called Laswell to confirm this and she just said your secret is safe with her, even after you explained it wasn't necessarily a secret.
You've been on plenty of missions with the 141, and they never notice. Right now you were on a regular mission, that was until an enemy managed to sneak up behind you. They sliced your stomach before pushing you out of the window, they even managed to shoot you on your fall down. Thankfully the cut wasn't too deep, the shot only hit your upper arm, and they didn't come to confirm your death. Even with your injuries and fall you had enough energy to alert the team, very shakily you told them where you were. Simon immediately answered “stay there, I’m coming” you just kept mumbling his name softly, he had always been nice to you, and odd quiet sort of nice, not what you would expect from him.
Your eyes were just starting to go blurry when you felt Simon pick you up. As soon as he gets you into the vehicle he starts taking care of your wounds. Putting pressure on your stomach, while Soap helps bandage the wound, Gaz putting pressure on your shoulder. You would definitely need stitches, and as soon as Price got in they were heading straight to the nearest hospital. Price was the one who removed your mask, he knew it was something personal but your life was more important and he needed to make sure you were breathing. You saw them all stare, the way they actually looked you over, now without all the gear on, their hands still worked following Simon's orders, but they looked utterly shocked, all of them except Simon. Simon focused on your wounds but he did look at your face once, almost as if he knew and understood.

“So much for stealth,” Gaz’s voice crackles through the comms.
The red lights cast everything in crimson pulses as the team works their way through the compound.
They were able to sweep the place for about fifteen minutes undetected.
But the alarm blares now.
Their cover is blown.
“Ghost!” Price’s voice snaps, sharp and commanding. “Go find her. We’ll handle up here.”
Don’t hafta tell him twice.
He doesn’t speak. Doesn’t respond more than a ‘copy that’.
He just runs.
Boots pound against the wood floor, then down the metal stairs.
Down, down, down.
Bodies fall, but not his. No, he leaves himself a nice trail to follow when he has you in his arms.
He follows the taut pull of the bond in his chest like a bloodhound, eyes almost glowing in the darkness as he drops body after body, guard after guard.
Until his boots come to a slow on the skywalk.
“Jesus Christ.”
His stomach is in his ass as he assesses the scene below.
It’s a massive room. Cold and eerie, almost.
There’s no sound besides the blaring of the alarm. No movement but the flicker red lights washing over rows and rows of wall-mounted patrons.
Holes are carved into the walls, and through each wall is some part of an Omega.
Ankles shackled here or there, legs bent in uncomfortable and unnatural angles.
Some conscious, some not.
Legs splayed, heads bowed. Shackled at the waist, knees, throat, wrists.
Even now, as the alarm blares and chaos unfolds upstairs, they’re left hanging like meat in a butcher's freezer.
No one thought to free them. To come to their aid.
No, they were left for dead.
Simon’s jaw clenches hard beneath the skull mask.
This is where they brought you.
This is what they have planned for you.
His fingers twitch toward his gun, his heart. He’s not sure what to do. He wants to stop, wants to scream. Wants to tear this place down brick by filthy brick until it’s nothing more than the horrible rumour Price had mentioned all those days ago.
But he can’t. Not yet.
Because you’re here somewhere, and he needs to find you before they move you.
He presses two fingers to his comm.
“I found the pit,” he spits the word, eyes focused on the poor Omegas bound below.
“Alphas cleared out. Omegas are still secured with no personnel down there yet.”
“Copy that,” Gaz replies. “We’ll get them out. You go.”
And so he runs again.
Deeper into the facility. Deeper underground.
Toward the bond.
Toward you.
Because he knows you’re awake, he can feel you in his bones now.
You’re awake and alone and so fucking scared. He can feel your fear thrumming through his body like a second pulse.
And he’ll be damned if that’s the last thing you feel.
The door to the operating room explodes inward with a thunderous CRACK.
The entire room jolts, and there’s a single moment of stillness before chaos erupts.
Instruments clatter, someone screams, and Simon is storming through the doorway like he’s been set loose from Hell.
His rifle is raised, firing in quick succession, and his mask is covered in grime and blood and rage.
And then he finally sees you.
Time slows down as he takes you in, drinks you up with his eyes.
You’re there, strapped to a table with an IV hooked up to your arm.
He hates that you’re restrained.
Hates that your gown is open and that you’re exposed to these monsters.
He hates the iodine that stains your skin and he hates the incision marring your supple flesh, just beginning to bleed.
He hates the pasty, colourless look of your skin and he hates how your eyes are glossed over and distant.
His heart drops.
You look empty. Like all that kept you alive has been drained from your body.
And then you blink.
And Simon’s heart settles in his chest the tiniest bit.
You’re alive.
He knew. Deep down, he always knew. The bond never went cold. But seeing you, confirming with his own eyes that you’re alive
Thank God.
And then the room is moving once again.
Someone reaches for a syringe while another goes for a panel on the wall.
Simon fires.
The first shot tears through the nurse’s side. Precise and non-lethal.
The next one leaves a hole in the doctor's leg.
Screams ring out over the sound of the alarm.
Blood splatters. Across the tiles, across the walls, across your skin.
You don’t feel it.
Under the pulsing strobe of the red alarm lights, you can’t see it either.
Simon doesn’t stop.
He fires until his mag is empty, not killing. Not these people.
These people don’t deserve death. No, not yet. They deserve to answer for what they’ve done, and their death will come slowly... and very painfully.
Another doctor or nurse, some monster whose education level doesn’t need recognition, lunges at him with a scalpel.
The same one that was pressed to your abdomen mere minutes earlier.
Stupid mistake.
Simon spins, blade out, and feels a weight lift from his shoulder when his knife finds purchase in the gut of the assailant.
The second last person still standing tries to run, but they don’t get far.
She collapses to the ground after a few steps, knife handle sticking out of her spine.
Only one hostile left.
Your Handler.
The small woman backs into the corner of the room, hands up, face splattered with the blood of her colleagues.
“Please, I was just following–!”
Simon clocks her once. A clean hit, nothing too nasty, he wants her alive, after all.
She crumbles to the floor, moaning in pain, and Simon takes the opportunity to give another one of his blades a new home, this time through the arch of her foot.
Nowhere to run now.
Finally, he turns his attention to the table.
His chest is rising and falling more rapidly now than it was moments ago during the fight.
His breath stutters.
You’re still strapped down, silent, pupils blown wide and heavy breaths leaving your lips.
“It’s me,” he rasps, coming to your side and yanking the straps from your arms. “I’ve got you.”
You open your mouth but no sound comes out.
Simon.
He’s here. He’s really here.
More tears flow down your cheeks and your fingers twitch as the straps fall away from you. You tremble as you lift your hands, reaching toward him like you’re not sure he’s real.
In all honesty, you’re not.
You half expect yourself to wake up, strapped to the table and successfully sterilized.
But you don’t.
Instead, your fingers shake toward him, smoothing over the gear on his chest.
You hiccup a sob when you finally feel him, squeezing your eyes shut and shaking your head like you’ll shake him away.
“I’m here now,” he whispers, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. “You’re safe. No one’s takin’ you fr’m me again.”
His hands move fast, precision born of fury and fear.
He got to you before it was too late. Now he just needs to get you out of here before it’s too late.
He slices through the last strap holding you down then grabs a pack of gauze from the surgical tray. He presses it to the warm blood still spilling from you, a look of pure hatred crossing his covered face when he sees firsthand the damage they’ve done to you.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what type of procedure they were starting.
With a softness he almost feels proud of, he guides your hand over the gauze and pushes down firmly.
“Hold this here.”
Your fingers obey. Barely.
It takes a solid fifty percent of your energy to keep the gauze pressed to your stomach.
Everything feels heavy now.
You stare up at him like you’re still half-gone, like part of you believes you’re still dreaming this.
But Simon’s already working on the exit plan.
“I have her,” he says, voice rough and quick as his eyes dart to you. “Surgery room, med wing, eastside. Handler and four medics alive. Bring ‘em all in for questioning.”
There’s a beat of static and then Price’s voice is gracing your ears, crisp and controlled as usual.
“Copy that. Boys are in the pit securing the Omegas. I’m on route to you.”
The pit.
The Omegas.
The Boys.
Simon exhales, low and shaky and full of relief before crouching down next to you.
His hand finds your arm, taking note of every flinch, every tremble, every breath.
“Can you walk?”
You look up at him. Eyes glassy and tear swollen. Your mouth opens like you want to answer, but no sound comes out.
All you do is look at him like he’s fucking stupid.
When he only raises his brows, you give a pointed look down to your abdomen.
Your body feels like lead. You can’t even feel your legs, let alone muster up the strength to get up and walk. Even without the anesthetic, you’re sure your legs would give out the moment you put a pound of pressure on them.
“Dumb question,” he mutters, “sorry.”
And then he scoops you up in his strong arms. One arm secured under your knees, the other cradling your back, big hand gentle beneath your shoulders.
A small sound springs free, half-sob and half-gasp, and you cling to him with all your might.
As he takes a step outside of the room, and then another down the hall, he finally lets himself breathe.
“‘ve got you,” he murmurs into your hair, quiet enough for only you to hear it.
“You’re safe. I’ve got you now.”
He carries you through the corridors like a man possessed. Fast, efficient, and more careful than he’s ever been in his life, until finally, finally, he sets a heavy boot on the skywalk.
The glass stretches across the wide, echoing pit below, and the moment you notice it, you turn your head just enough to see.
Your vision is a little blurry with tears, and the flashing red lights don’t help matters, but the scene below is so very different than the one you saw last time.
You can make out Soap and Gaz down there, in the brutal room of horror and shame, going from Omega to Omega. Freeing them, helping them, saving them.
Some of the women collapse the moment the cuffs release. Some women scream, others cry, and some make no sound at all.
Littered across the floor like fallen leaves on a crisp autumn day are the Alphas that Gaz and Soap were able to find.
Most alive, just unconscious.
A bust like this deserves proper questioning and proper off-books punishment. Something involving an explosion, if Soap has a hand in it.
For a very quick second, everything except what you’re seeing falls away.
For just a moment, all that exists is grief and pain and humiliation that was meant to be shared with you.
You shove your face into Simon’s shoulder with a hiccuped sigh, refusing to witness another second of the horrific scene below.
He adjusts his grip, shifting you a bit to better shield you from what’s happening beneath his feet.
“Almost out,” he murmurs, his jaw tense as he nears the end of the hallway.
Price waits just beyond the glass, weapon lowered, but his eyes are sharp and focused on you.
Once you’re a bit closer, he gives Simon a quick once-over then nods toward you.
“We’ve got men and medics on the way,” he says. “We’ll take care of the rest.”
Simon doesn’t stop moving, but he slows long enough to catch Price’s eye with deadly intention.
“They touch her again, I–”
“Won’t be necessary,” Price interrupts. His eyes get soft for a moment when he places a hand on your shoulder.
“Get her out of here.”
Simon moves forward.
He pushes on, up stairs, through hallways, through set after set of doors until finally, finally, he makes it outside.
The cool winter air makes goosebumps rise on your skin, and you snuggle even closer into his chest.
The chopper blades are spinning slowly, gaining speed with every step Simon takes forward.
You refuse to look back.
You refuse to even look out the window as the bird lifts into the air.
None of that matters anymore. You won’t let it.
All that matters is the here and the now and all that is yet to come.
It's a rainy night and you're chilling with your boyfriend, Simon. As you're scrolling on your phone on social media you still find 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 posts despite the trend having died some time ago.
You hum, looking at Simon with a smile.
"Simon?" You call for him with a smile.
"Yes, ma'am?" He lets out a quiet grunt, looking up at you from his phone.
"Do you think we're soulmates in 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 universe?" You ask, innocent and smiling.
"Soulmates?" Simon echoes with a questioning look on his face and you nod.
"We're not even soulmates in this one, sweetheart." He replies with a scoff, looking back at his phone.
Reader who is Simon's partner on the field, always at his back, genuinely laughing at his jokes, and Simon is always looking at you with such admiration in his eyes. Reader, who is more than just Simon's on field partner but also Simon's fiance, the only one he trusts to hold his heart, sees him behind all the masks. Simon would do anything to see that pretty smile on your face.
Simon even loves them enough to jump in front of a bullet for them without a second thought. Reader who they have to pry of Simon's dead body because bullets are still flying and they're refusing to leave him. Reader who holds on tightly until they are both dragged to safety, Simons already gone and they know it. Reader who still clings to Simon's body hours later, ready and wanting to die with him.
the 141 finding out reader isn't a guy behind their mask (fem reader x Simon) Part 2 Part 1
The first thing you felt was the pain, and then you heard the arguing. The pain rang through your entire torso, there wasn't a part of you that didn't ache. Slowly as you opened your eyes and saw the room around you, you remembered the attack, and you remembered that look Simon gave you. You could hear your teammate arguing through the door, you couldn't make out much other than your name, but then you heard Simon speak over all of them, clearly saying “could you guys fuckin’ stop?” it went very quiet before Price said “we're just trying to figure out where everyone is going” Price sounded thoroughly confused by Simon's outburst, but Simon didn't clarify, he just said “I’m stayin’ with them” he didn't let them argue he just entered your room.
It took a lot of effort but you called out to Simon, immediately he was up and holding your hand “it’s okay” he told you before he tried to go call the nurse but you stopped him “why are you mad” Simon was only looking at you with worry and care but you had heard him earlier and you wanted to know what made him so openly angry. He shook his head “it’s nothin’” but when you didn't let go he told you “it’s jus’ as soon as they learned ya were a trans guy, it’s like they stopped caring bout you, kept misgendering ya” he was so angry on your behalf, if you weren't in so much pain you would be smiling bright right now “Simon why do you think I’m trans”
Simon was quiet for a moment before he said “well, you' re always hidin’ your period, ya wear a binder, ya use he/him” he paused for a moment before continuing “and back when you first joined the team, I saw you when you were out runnin’ in jus’ a sports bra” you had no clue Simon paid so much attention to you, you never expected any of them to notice the consistency of you being sick, let alone be able to piece everything together. You smiled softly “I’m not trans Simon” he looked at you confused “ya don’t have to lie, I’ll support ya” you squeezed his hand “no really Simon. People often assume I’m a guy with the mask, and they don't look down on me as much so I go along with it because it’s easier, safer” Simon was quiet for a long while, clearly trying to understand everything, after a while he just pointed at you and said “so you're girl?” you just nodded before adding “but thank you for having my back Simon” how long had he thought that and had kept your secret, and was even arguing with his teammates about it.
Simon might not understand your exact reasons why you wear the mask, and he will never ask, he hopes one day you'll feel comfortable enough to tell him. But he knows why he puts on the mask everyday, he knows how he feels without it as a shield, how vulnerable he is, he can only imagine it’s something similar for you. Simon had always planned to keep your secret safe, and a part of him hated when Price took off your mask, no one should force you to take it off, force you out into the open, but he knew your life was more important, he just hopes you can forgive him for letting it happen.
Simon came back with a nurse not long after, and after she made sure you were okay and gave you some meds to help with the pain, you started thinking. Honestly you didn't know where you were, obviously a hospital but not in the uk, the nurse barely spoke English, and the walls were painted this pretty light pink, no bright fluorescent lights blinding you, and oddest of all, the hospital was eerily quiet. Simons must've seen your confusion because he said “we jus’ took ya to the nearest hospital, if you could call it a hospital. Very small, old building in a very small, old town. Price is callin’ Laswell and explainin’ everythin’ while Soap is tryin’ to get us back home.” you looked at him panic “what about Gaz?” “He's right outside, we’ll switch while I call Price. No need to worry”
You took a deep breath, if you had more strength you would've smacked Simon for making you worry like that. Gaz came in as soon as Simon left and he sat next to you. He was quiet for only a moment before asking “so are we going to talk about you lying” your eyes went wide, this is what you were worried about “I didn't lie, I just” you paused “ I didn't mean to” Gaz could see the worry in your eyes “I know you didn't mean to, but I think we deserve an explanation, sooner rather than later. But I know you need to time to think first, especial with your injuries” he said while listening to your body, and suddenly you felt all too exposed, you had never been in front of them with just this little “we still care about you, but we’re just confused” Gaz must've seen your worry growing because he grabbed your hand and added “it’s okay, I’m sure it's just a misunderstanding, no need to panic. We’re all still here to help you”
Reader stopping Simon from committing suicide Part 2 Part 1
(no suicide talks in this one, just Simon thinking he is tainted and bloody compared to you)
Just like you promised you called Simon every day and when you had a little extra time you showed up to his little apartment. He wasn't very good at communicating on the phone, so most of your calls were just you talking about your day, you reserved the more in depth conversation for when you saw him. Even if Simon didn't talk much he still loved hearing your voice, he waited in bed every morning till you called him. You called him while you got dressed and fixed your breakfast, you often talked about your dreams or whatever random shower thought came to your head that morning, every call ended with you sending him a picture of your food and promising to call him later.
Every day at lunch you message him to make sure he’s doing okay, if he doesn't answer fast enough you hide in the bathroom to call him, he thinks your worrying is so cute, he’s never had someone worry about him like that. It's a little embarrassing to admit with how little you know Simon but you really worry that he’ll do something stupid while you're at work unable to talk. On days when he really misses interaction he shows up to your work with your favorite fast food, honestly you're not sure how he found out exactly what you like at every place but you're not complaining.
Nights are Simon's favorite, you don't stop by every night but when you do Simon has to suppress his smile. You come over with homemade food, you give Simon such big servings, you sit next to him on the couch because he doesn't have a table, you never mention it. You sit next to him and talk, you joke, half the time it's not good but Simon laughs just to see you smile, he cracks his own jokes just to hear you laugh, something he wasn't able to do for a long while. Sometimes when the night feels extra soft you ask him to tell you a story from back when he was in the military, he expected you to avoid the topic but you never did, he only tells you the good stories, the ones that involve smiles and not bloodshed, those were too harsh for someone as soft as you.
And if Simon was really lucky you would get lost in the conversation and have to stay the night. He would watch you at night, not in a creepy way but he couldn't help it, you looked so sweet sleeping, not a worry in the world, not a nightmare in sight. Simon wonders if he’s ever been that innocent, he had always known the horrors of the world, never felt safe like you do. Simon spends most of the night just watching you, he tried to sleep the first time but he can’t, it's not the nightmares but rather he worries about your safety, someone has to watch you, your guard is down.
It was going to be another one of these nights, some movie was coming out that you've been waiting for, you've told Simon about it a dozen times already. But this time when you showed up you came with dinner, desert, and breakfast “I was hoping I could stay the night. It's kind of a long movie.” How was he supposed to tell you no when you looked up at him with those big sweet innocent eyes and asked so kindly, of course he let you stay. Almost as soon as you two finished eating Simon's head was leaning on the couch, it wasn't his fault your cooking always makes him feel so content, and he had planned to get some sleep tonight, even if it was only a few hours plagued by nightmares. You tugged his shirt while pouting “Simon it just started you can't fall asleep” you pulled him over to you and he lazily fell into your lap, he had planned to get right back up, he was just joking, but when you started rubbing his head Simon decided to lay still. The way your hands massaged his head while playing with his hair just had Simon relaxing, that combined with your low humming was enough to have Simon falling asleep. It has been years, decades even since Simon has fallen asleep so easily, and without nightmares following him.
When the movie finished you pulled one blanket over Simon and another over your shoulders and fell asleep like that, hands still tangled in his hair. And a few hours later the front door quietly creaked open. They had texted him a few hours ago but he never saw it, he was already in your arms by then. Gaz peaked his head in and immediately gasped, mouth wide open. Soap looked in next and had the same reaction before smiling “cap, you're gonna wanna see this”

It seems like the therapy appointments are hurting you more than helping, no matter what Simon does every time you leave your mood is worse and worse, you have less motivation and the next day you're in even more pain than last time. Simon didn't want to keep asking for meds worried they would assume you're abusing them, he doesn't even want to think about what would happen if they took them away completely. Right now Simon is doing his best to stop your pain. Honestly this is the worst he's seen it.
He can tell you're trying your hardest to hold it in but the pain is simply too much, you've given up wiping your tears away because they keep falling, half your sentences are just mumbles begging the pain to go away and the other half are practically screams of pain. Your nails are digging into Simon, you're desperately gripping him, begging him to make the pain go away, occasionally you have a few minutes of less pain and Simon thinks it’s over, but then it all starts again, this cycle has been going on for hours. Simon's doing everything he can to comfort you and relieve some pain but it doesn't seem to be working, he's sick of this, he hates seeing you in pain.
He gently moves you off of him, he needs to call Price, you need stronger meds, this isn't working, you shouldn't be in this much pain. He would only be gone for a moment to call Price but the moment he starts walking away you freak out. If he thought you were begging earlier he doesn't know what to call this. You're begging, pleading him not to leave “please please, I’ll stop, just don't leave please. Please, I promise. It doesn't hurt just stay, please, please Simon” he understands what you're saying, but he sees the way you're gripping your skin because it hurts so much. He knows you're hurting, your arms are red from scratching and you keep repeatedly kicking your leg because it hurts and you don't know how to stop it.
But more than anything Simon can just look at your face and tell, you look so sacred, there's tears all down your face, your shirt is wet from tears and sweat, you're trying so hard not to contort your face from the pain. You're so scared of Simon leaving, he knew you were both physically and mentally dependent on him, he knew you had fears of him leaving but he didn't realize how bad they were. You were pushing through the pain because the idea of being alone with the pain, the idea of Simon deciding you weren't worth it, the mere thought of Simon leaving you alone was far worse.
When Simon realized that a part of him broke, he cared so much about you, he hated the idea of leaving you for even a moment, the fact you were so sacred and thought it could happen at any moment made him feel terrible. He was trying his best to show you he would always be here for you, for fucks sake he loves you, he wanted the best for you and he would gladly spend the rest of his life helping you get better. The fact you did see that, it really made Simon think about everything he had done.
Simon paused for only a second before he rushed back over to the bed, he grabbed your hands, stopping you from hurting yourself more, he moved one hand to cup your face “it’s okay luv, I’m here, I’m here and I’m not going anywhere” he kept repeating those words over and over again. The tears didn't stop, if anything they started more, in between your begging for the pain to stop you begged him not to leave, Simon had to hold your leg down at one point because you were moving to much, your leg hurt so damn much but if you kept moving you were only going to hurt yourself more. The moment the pain settled even just a little, Simon texted Price, he needed pain meds asap and he didn't care how Price got them, you could figure out a proper plan and prescription later, right now all that matters to Simon was stopping the pain.

Simon has resorted to bribing you, regularly. Every night and morning you're supposed to stretch but Simon notices as the days go by you start losing motivation and just skipping all together. Simon knows as simple as stretching is supposed to be, it hurts and pain first thing in the morning and last thing before bed isn't fun, it only makes sense that you're doing your best to avoid it. But Simon also knows you can't heal if you start avoiding it, so he finds a way to help motivate you.
So Simon started to offer you things as a reward for doing your stretches. In the morning Simon promises to make your favorite breakfast, or maybe he promises to get you something you've been wanting or go somewhere you've been asking to go, as long as you do your stretches. At night he promises to get you a treat or he promises cuddles, surprising you choose cuddles most of the time, Simon's very respectful with his hand placement but he's also careful not to touch your skin too much because he knows his whole body is heating up being so close to you.
Simon also does stretches with you, he does the same ones you do even if they're incredibly easy for him and don't actually make him stretch, but after you're all done stretching sometimes Simon will do extra stretches, it's more for your entertainment rather than his health. He does the oddest stretches and poses he can find just so you can giggle at him. Sometimes he takes it a step farther and works out with you, honestly he uses you more like extra weight but you love it, sitting on Simon's back while he does push-ups, or he’ll use you as a weight, curling you while trying not to laugh as your laughter, or he has you hang onto him while doing pull-ups, he just has to be careful not to hurt you though.
The bribes have to get bigger when the task is harder, after every therapist visit you lose motivation, not because you're not progressing or things aren't looking hopeful, in fact everything is looking great and you're right on track, but it still hurts so fucking much. The daily stretches get easier the more you do them but then you go to therapy and everything hurts and suddenly the daily stretches are just as hard as they were in the beginning. It’s a weekly cycle and it hurts you so much, you're practically stuck on the couch for days, you lose motivation to do anything, even fun things, your whole body hurts even with the meds.
It hurts Simon every week when you look at him, feeling so small and helpless, in pain and doing your best not to cry. He gives you a break the day after your therapy visit, you two spend the whole day under the covers, normally you're too shy to cuddle up to Simon but you're so tired you don't care, you hold onto him all day, on rough days you squeeze his arm begging him to stop the pain while you cry. Simon tried to get you stronger pain meds, even if you only took them after therapy appointments that would be something, but your therapist doesn't, she just lessens what you do in your appointments. It doesn't help enough though, you're still in pain and tears the next day, and now you feel even worse mentally because you know you did less than you should have and it just makes you feel useless.
You've started opening up to Simon a little more, you tell him how you feel about yourself, how you feel useless now and how it seems like your burdening everyone, you tell him how sacred you are that you'll never get better or that everyone will leave you if you don't get better fast enough. You don't tell him how scared you are of the 141 leaving you behind, you know you'll never be a soldier again, you are so scared they will go on a mission, that Simon will go on a mission and leave you all alone, you are terrified that Simon's life will continue moving without you. Simon pulls you close promising that won't happen, he promises he will always care for and love you, he promises you will get better, deep down you know he doesn't know the future and his words don't really hold weight. But it feels nice telling him about your feelings, and it feels nice when he pulls you close, brushing away your tears and kissing the top of your head while whispering about how much he cares about you.
