Formal Outfit Inspired by Simone Walker from Moonlight
This outfit is inspired by Simone's outfit for the event in episode 16, "Sonata". The dress is Alexander McQueen, the purse is Jimmy Choo, the shoes are Dolce & Gabbana, the lipgloss is Dior, the earrings are Kay Jewelers, and the bracelet is Italian Gold. Since Simone is a lawyer in L.A. (Josef's lawyer at that) and Josef's freshie, I used mostly luxury items.

Which character are you applying for?: Simone Walker
Why do you want to play this character?:
I was inspired to make Simone based off my experiences at beauty school—while I wasn’t there studying as a cosmetologist I was around student cosmetologists and I came to know them very well. Lots of people become cosmetologists for the money, but some do it because it’s their passion in life and having the creative outlet of beauty is something I really want to explore because I’m kind of living it!
To be honest, it was between Marie and Simone thinking about who I’d ultimately end up playing, but I love Simone dearly and I’d like to go ahead and take her if just for the time being because I’ve become so fond of her character to the point where I really want to play her.
Describe the future for this character. What are they motivated to accomplish or do? How do you intend to play them?:
She is a hostage to Charity’s schemes, there’s no way around it. In the wake of learning that she has become diseased by her profession, misfortune has been brought to her in the form of art theft and vague threats of safety if she doesn’t let Charity and her gang use her salon as a headquarters to their grand heist. It is a very strange time in Simone’s life right now, which will give room for her to grow as a person through the hardships and predicaments life has put her in.
Simone is still trying to understand what to do with herself knowing that she’s become diseased through overexposure. Cutting back on her hours and only seeing select number of clients was her first step, but now she needs to ask herself if she wants to continue to do hair and nails at all. Portrait Perfect can afford to run without her, so there isn’t a great issue of money at play, but then what in the world would she do with herself if she quit her job as a cosmetologist? It’s something she’s reflected on and she will continue to debate with herself, and I think the answer is going to be revealed in game with the relationships she forms with other characters and if they have anything to say to her about the matter.
Compounding this, the fact that she’s been roped into an Ocean’s style art heist has made everything twice as complicated. She suddenly has relations with a group of thieves—murderers even in her mind—and paranoia has set in. There’s a fear that she might be implied as an accessory to their crimes should they be caught, and if that is the case, the salon and her livelihood might be at risk. Simone actively prays that the police come busting through the door and arrest everyone so that she can be absolved before any crime happens, but she hasn’t gotten the chance to call and leave a tip for the FBI in fear that the Mob might be after her if she outs the art thieves. I feel as though Amelia is going to play a big part in this, seeing as how Amelia is an FBI agent herself on the art crime team, and while their relationship is slightly one-sided, I’d love to explore how Simone would try and drop the hint that she’s currently being held hostage to Amelia.
Para-sample:
There was a solemn breath of dejection as Simone looked beyond her polarized lenses onto the scenery of the park and its inhabitants. Chilly mornings were just like any other morning—Simone didn’t have work and she was free to sleep in, get breakfast, or waste time sitting on a dilapidated bench in the park by her lonesome as she went on a quiet, introspective journey into what her life had become. Not that introspective journeys were all that rare for Simone—becoming lost within memories and ‘what ifs’ distracted her from the quite dangerous reality she existed in. Burning her hair and her finger tips on a curling iron, bumping her red Porsche up against other cars during deadlocked traffic, and even pausing in a docile bliss while the washing machine behind her sputtered and bubbled up soapy water all on to the floor in an electrical nightmare—all of these things were caused by Simone’s tendency to take mental exercises into what she could of done better, who she could have become.
While Simone could appear as if she was right in front of you, more often than not, she wasn’t really all there. She was somewhere else, and through the confines of her own visualizations and streams of consciousness, Simone was back in beauty school dressing up doll heads and laboring over sections of hair that her instructors criticized harshly (but not that harshly, as Simone would amend in memory). The defining aromas of products and chemicals had just begun to infiltrate Simone’s senses, and she found it funny how she used to oddly like the smell and taste but now she can’t stand to be in an unventilated salon. Blame it on that doctor’s visit, and the realization that what she loved to do was killing her.
How could she have ever known that her job was going to twist a knife in her like this?
Of course they go over it in school: the dangers of overexposure and the horror images of hellish skin infections. Simone could even recall reading an online article in horror over some of the diseases that nail technicians were prone to contract because of all of the dust and debris they inhaled working on acrylic nails. She had always fretted over ventilating everything and following safety procedures and reading over the MSDSs tucked away in the back of her salon for good measure. Yet, it was the way she cut corners sometimes that damned her to contract such a bad cough.
Oh, and of course the smoking, but Simone had convinced herself that the hundreds of vivid memories where she became lightheaded from exposure and fumes exacerbated her mild smoking habits.
Rubbing her fingers up against her heavy eyelids, Simone regretted not putting any makeup on before she left the house. Not that anyone would see her—the dark glasses rimmed with a shimmering gold obscured her tired and weary eyes—but without the mask to adorn her best features she always began to feel just a bit more vulnerable against the scrutiny of every other living person’s gaze. Being taken out of her reverie had revealed that twenty minutes had passed by, and the sun had moved ever so slightly further up into the sky—bending the shadows of the trees underneath the blue expanse.
Never liking to dwell on her physical surroundings, Simone ducked her head down once more. Crossing her arms together she continued to think about her life in the context of everything. Maybe she should have never become a cosmetologist in the first place, but then again, what in the world would have happened to her if she never stepped foot into that beauty school?
