I love the embroidery you just posted! can I ask what kind of metallic thread you use and if you have any advice for using it? I usually wax my embroidery thread to keep it from tangling as much but that doesn't work on the metallic I use (just the regular dmc kind from the craft store) and I find it such a pain -- threading it, getting it to lay nicely with the metal wanting to kink, etc -- but I love sparkly things so I keep doing it lol. Thank you in advance!

thank you so much! I used Gutermann SULKY metallic thread (7007), with four strands for the main linework and two strands for the in-fill and smaller detailing, and pal: you are not wrong, metallic thread is THE WORST.

I waxed mine too with a bit of beeswax warmed between my fingertips and then running the thread through it a few times, but yeah, it forever wants to tangle and kink, it’s the worst and yet I keep doing it.

Have you seen the movie 4th Man Out? It's a really cute movie on Netflix about a guy who comes out to his bro friends and how they try to support him and help him find a date. But it would be SO GOOD as a Sterek AU!!

I have seen that movie. I really enjoyed it. I kind of wanted him and his best friend to get together but I know that’s not what the movie was about. Still though, if there was going to be a Sterek AU I’d love it if Derek was the one struggling to come out to his friends and Stiles - his best friend, who he’s known since first grade - is 100% there for him; taking him to gay bars, reading up on gay sex and making sure he’s being safe, helping Derek come out to his family (who already know). 

Until Stiles realises....maybe, just maybe, he’s been in love with Derek all these years and he’s only now realising it. 

CUE MAJOR ANGST AND A HAPPY ENDING.

don't mind me, i'm just thinking about when (and why) joong-gil decided to start wearing gloves as part of his outfit when working 🙃🙃

they definitely weren't a part of the older joseon uniforms, and it seems like he only started doing it when they switched to western clothing

but i know we are all overthinking about why he wears them and when he chooses to take them off 🙈

randomly thinking about how ryung-gu had the title of "manager" on the RM team which literally consisted of just him and ryeon before junwoong showed up...

i imagine that he got the manager position simply bc he snarkily told ryeon and the director that "managing a team of one (myself) is really hard, so i should be promoted" or smth along that line.

something like "i'm really hard to manage."

tumblr glitched before I could reply to that post, but thank you so much for the recs! I loved Winter's Orbit and I'm really excited for the second one, so I'll definitely have to check out The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea

I early voted on saturday! having a hard time choosing just one, but the last book I loved was probably A Marvellous Light (honorable mentions for A Desolation Called Peace and Harrow the Ninth, although obviously you don't have to rec multiple things, I just have a disease where I'm always reading 6 books at a time)

I mean, I feel like if you've read these ones, you've probably read Winter's Orbit and have read/will read Ocean's Echo by Everina Maxwell? If not, put them on your list posthaste! I think there's some not-insignificant overlap between people who like all those books.

And for a slightly deeper cut, I'm going to say that if you do YA, not enough people have read Axie Oh's The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea. Some mythology, some romance, some mystery solving, I liked it a lot!

Hah, it is not weird at all, and totally what I was going for.... it was for a LARP called Dungeon Owner’s Association, which was basically a neighborhood/HMO meeting among evil creatures who run a dungeon.  We argued about lawn usage, out of control block parties, the Illithid who fell for a Paladin ( a lawful good paladin) and let them move in, HMO fees and dungeon tithes, and the oncoming party of level 8 adventurers who were definitely overleveled for our crew.  Charlie the Spider had a big web and hundreds of children and was sort of the soccer mom of the dungeon.  It was a great time1

Hey, re: your tags about Arrival, it was pretty good! There's almost no fighting; it's more about humans learning to work together/communicate with the aliens. As a linguist there were parts that I thought were really silly and the central conceit of the movie is based on a theory that was disproven a while ago, but as a sci-fi movie stretching science (in this case linguistics) for entertainment it worked pretty well!

Oh gosh, a whole bunch of people have sent me messages saying I should see this, so I will definitely keep an eye out for movie-attending opportunities! Part of my family usually goes either on Thanksgiving or sometime in the weekend, but I think we’re reserving that trip for Moana. Plus aliens are not really my sister’s jam, she gamely put up with Force Awakens last Christmas for our sake, but this might be pushing it. ;)

But yes, maybe if I’ve got a free afternoon while it’s in theaters I will make it over!
