TOP FIVE CRITICAL ROLE SHIPS GO
AH!
Perc’ahlia (god tier untouchable perfection)
Kima/Allura
Fjord/Caduceus QPR (it was real To Me)
Callowmoore
Imaudna/the Briarwoods tie
(There are so many that are actually tied for 5th but I narrowed it to those two)
So I know from your live blogging that you've just recently gotten to the episode, But I wanted to know what your interpretations on the whole "sister" thing with Ashton and Fearne.
Whether or not it's something to be worried about or if it's just another case of Ashton's Charisma of 6 making him very dense at the moment, or maybe it was just said in the moment to get people to back off of forcing something romantic when Ashton and Fearne have been shown to take their romance at a very glacial, natural approach.
I am genuinely curious what both ashton and taliesin’s intentions were in the moment.
I’ve had shipping goggles on for ashton x fearne since episode one or two, but even setting that aside, ashton has been both deliberate and determined about seeking/singling out fearne (cutting in to state “she likes me better, clearly”, stepping in to bargain for the extra bottle of booze she wanted, stealing from her, stealing for her, asserting fearne was going to crash with them and not with chet, supporting her professor calloway con, telling her he loves her home and her nan, telling her she’s “fucking great” and “magic”, telling her – and only her – “I missed you so much”, putting themself next to her in combat or while walking, telling her he likes her leadership). I thought ashton/taliesin were much more clearly falling for fearne than fearne was for ashton initially (I think fearne has started to feel things/reciprocate, which was all but confirmed during the last 4sd episode).
so I’m thinking – hoping? – it’s the 6 cha? because a) I don’t think taliesin is playing ashton in a way that would mean ashton diverges from their desires simply because people were pushing or teasing them toward it and b) I don’t think either of them are taking their relationship – whatever it is or winds up being – at a glacial pace. I think they’ve both been incredibly obvious about their attraction to and feelings for each other.
Hi! Just wanted to see how the Callowmoore supercut is going along? 💖
Hi!
Took a bit of a break from working on it. Grad school (especially art school) takes up a lot of my time and with the down time I have, I've been catching up on episodes. However, I have been updating it recently and right now it sits at a pretty 53 and a half minutes. Blessed be YouTube for providing 1080p footage.
Here’s a sneak peek from forty-five and a half minutes into the edit:
The Unseelie court not knowing that the Calloways had a daughter would imply that Oleander and Birdie had conceived and birthed Fearne a short time AFTER they had fled the Seelie. Mostly on the basis that the birth of daughter to one of the Feywild’s most influential families would be big, hot-topic gossip/news for the rest of the courts within the Feywild.
And if I, the matriarch of the Seelie court, wanted the daughter of my once powerful fey family within my court to become apart of my war-brewing tactic’s, I would keep all hush-hush about the birth of a Calloway daughter to my other fey court matriarchs/patriarchs/leaders.
But there’s also the fact that Elmenore knew of a daughter, which means that Birdie and Oleander didn’t nessisarly leave the court, they just left the courts inner circle (I.e the matriarch, the advisers, the grove general, the hand maidens, Ira Wendagoth, etc) meaning that while not directly appearing to Elmenore herself, they’re still in the Seelie court as a whole, meaning that when Fearne was born, Elmenore knew of her existence because her parents had not completely severed their ties with the Seelie court.
It’s kinda the same case as Loquacious—although he had completly left Elmenore and the court as a whole, he was still tied to the Seelie and still could communicate with them and they knew of his marriage to a mortal.
This also begs the question: does the Unseelie court actually know that the Calloways left the Seelie Court?
To me, Dusk’s convo with their informant read as if the Unseelie doesn’t know that The Calloways became outcasts within their court and left to supposedly fix whatever it was that they broke and that they believe that the Calloways are still in service to whatever war-brewing plot that Elmenore is cooking.
Sorry this took ages to answer, but yeah, I'm inclined to agree. A lot of this lore is above my paygrade in how much I understand CR lore, but I definitely think that Dusk is possibly uninformed about the current status of the Calloways. They're clearly on a mission from their boss to "end the Calloway line," but I'm also very curious about their status in that mission.
By that I mean that Dusk presumably traveled with Birdie and Ollie for a while (assuming that's not a lie, but during the Sending from Imogen, Dusk was name-dropped and Birdie/Ollie weren't alarmed at all) and is now traveling with Fearne and never once have they acted to harm a Calloway. Maybe it's all a gambit to get to Morrighan? Or they can't act until all the Calloways have been located?
But it definitely seems plausible that this is a larger Seelie/Unseelie conflict that the Calloways are caught in the middle of, regardless of how much they want to be.
Overall, I'm less concerned with Dusk's lore right now than Dusk's character actions. Erika is playing Dusk in such a fun fashion full of poking and prodding and mischief and it's fun because we don't have any reason to believe that there's a reason for it. Like, yes, Dusk is there for Fearne, but there's no reason to fuck with Imogen & Laudna or Orym or FCG, and yet... there they are, messing with them. Fey fuckery or plot-based motivation, doesn't matter, I can't wait to see more of it and more importantly, the reveal.
Second end of year request sketches for @simplysparrow14 of Deku from; My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia and Allura x Lance from Voltron.
I haven’t drawn humans in so long and I feel rusty lol
I use to love MHA so much. I’m not fully up to date with the manga but I skim around to when the Todoroki family drama/developments happen lol
I’m not familiar with Voltron (the 80’s or Netflix one) but I know of the characters. I feel like Allurance will make me sad because of what I found out happens. I’m not 100% sure if Lance wears the same facial markings Allura wears after a certain event or if he did it earlier but I added it anyway. I’m really happy with this sketch, they look so cute.
I hope you like these and thank you for you support this year!
So if the rwby soundtracks are going to be incorporating Casey and Ok Goodnights' songs from Under The Veil now since they did for "Awake", then I nominate "Unraveled" to be the song used when Jaune has to fight evil ghost Pyrrha on the island.
I swear to god, if the thing I manifest for V9 is Jaune fighting an evil reanimated version of Pyrrha, then I’m deleting my account
Last volume my friends nearly attacked me because of the stuff I manifested
I swear to Christ, I’ll do it. Don’t tempt me CRWBY
So, I know that obviously now that TLOVM is out with three episodes, where do you think they're taking Pike's story arc in his season. Obviously, they didn't have a lot to draw from due to Ashley's absences from the lives how and there was the notion that they had to change some things around in order to fully flesh out the Briarwood Arc to evolve the entry of VM.
The love of my life deserves some good angst.
(also this is probably me being indulgent but what if they somehow incorporated something within the arc that involves Pike's first death? Like they're fighting The Briarwoods or something and one of them summons a monster and said monster grabs pike and it cuts to like a quick-PTSD induced flashback of Pike's first death with the Glabrezel??? AND WE GET A PIKELAN MOMENT BECAUSE OF IT???? my soul would ascend)
first of all, I would love that! I am here for all and any Pikelan content. I feel so blessed that we are currently averaging a moment per episode. I know that's probably not going to stick so I'm going to savor it while I can! Us pikelans deserve this.
that being said, my impression from 1) what they set up in ep 3 and 2) what's laid out in the soundtrack, it sounds like they're probably going to do a mix of the early Underdark "there's a crack in Pike's holy symbol" drama and the canonical, in stream Briarwoods arc where Pike was gone for part of it but had a triumphant return.
so, to summarize: Because of the crack in her holy symbol caused by Delilah's necromancy magic, Pike's connection with The Everlight will be severed. It's the nature of a support to put all their worth into how useful they are to their party. We already know this to be true of Pike. With her powers "gone", Pike will spiral and take time away from the party to reconnect with her goddess. Eventually, she will have a triumphant return during battle through the undead in Whitestone and will score a poetic, light-filled shot at Delilah. and hopefully, there will be many great Pikelan moments to be found!
like, I know we're probably not gonna get a Pikelan reunion that lives up to the giddy, toe-curling sweetness of ep 32 ("Hey, baby!" "Hi!!" "It's been so long! Man, you look good." "Hey, thanks!" "Aw man. I'm so distracted by your beauty. Let's kick some ass together, shall we?" "Let's kick some ass! Come on, let's go!!") ...but a girl can dream...
