"Damn this common gutter blood in my veins!"
-Waylon Smithers Jr.
I also rewatched Blood Feud, and OH MY GOD this is a movie!!🥹 It had been such a long time since I first watched this, and I did not remember how lively, beautiful and full of heart and emotion the first few seasons were! (Bonus points for the characters' voices, so full of emotion and life🥺❤) This episode had such a well written, touching story and it was impossible not to tear up looking at the heavy-hearted Smithers throughout the whole episode, the way he really cares for Burns and finds him important shows so much, and it's endearing and at the same time heartbreaking to watch🥺❤ Nearing the end of the episode, it must have been an awful dilemma to have to decide whether to stay devoted to Burns' wishes and get the man who saved Burns's life, the love and most important person of Smithers' life, painfully beaten and possibly killed or to spare the man's life like he did to Burns' own one?
At the end, Smithers was the sober yin to Burns' raging yang*, and everyone got to stay alive happily :) The Simpsons family even got a frabulous, grabulous, zip-zoop-zabulous present as a thank you for the heroic act of saving Burns, a massive Olmec head of Xtapolapocetl!🗿✨
It's impossible not to have this as one of my fav episodes ever now, it's just such a masterpiece!💞
*I will talk about this sentence and the interesting paraller(s) with Smithers & Burns, and Marge & Homer as duos in a later post!
