Sims 2 Cheats Tips

I think not a lot of people know this trick, so I wanted to share it.

In Sims 2, when you want to enter a cheat, you can type the first few letters and then press the tab key the game will autofill the cheat for you.

For instance: if you type "mov" => press tab => it becomes "moveObjects" (you still need to "add" on or "off")

Without the " " of course .

In fact, if you don’t type anything in the cheat console and simply press tab, the game will cycle through all the cheats in alphabetical order.

I do not recommend activating any cheat that you don't understand, unless you are in a mood to experiment and don't mind potentially borking your game.

HOWEVER, this trick does not work with the money cheats (motherlode, kaching), nor with any of the cheats starting with "boolprop" ☹️

But there's a workaround for that.

You can set up aliases for them in your user starter cheat. What this does is allow you to replace those annoyingly long cheats with a word of your choosing.

And the best part is that you can use the tab key for aliases!

For instance, in my game I replaced testingcheats by "cheaton"/"cheatoff".

So if I want to activate testingcheats, I write "ch" => press tab => it becomes "cheaton" => press tab again => it becomes "cheatoff"

That's it. That's the tip. I hope it was helpful.

The REAL purpose of OMSPs

Clutter, clutter, clutter... sure, but in gameplay, I use OMSPs so Sims actually have surfaces to place down bills, newspapers, food, coffee mugs, magazines, cigarettes if you have them, etc etc etc!!! Really adds to the immersion. Just remember where you stuck em!

Hi BellaDovah! I think I remember you mentioning a mod or something in one of your videos that made it so you could see what EP/SP a maxis item was from in the build/buy catalog? I don't remember which video or what this was called. Do you know where I could find this?

Hi, Happy New Year! Yes absolutely, it's a cheat:

boolProp ShowCatalogEPFlags true

You'll have seen it in this video which has this corresponding web post with all of the cheats written and their description, as well as the download for my userStartup.cheat file. This cheat is in my file so it's always on by default, I never have to type it in but my catalog always displays the pack info. Hope that helps!

Help with Sims 2 Error Log

Hi, everyone. I'm in the middle of a multi-day attempt to fix my crashing Sims 2 game and wondering if anyone here could help by reading the error log to help me figure out what the problem is.

I have a new gaming laptop and have gotten the game installed, but am having significant crashing issues now. So far, I've tried the What Caused This? program, but it only reads ObjectError logs, not crash logs. I've also run the 4GB patch, Graphics Rules Maker, Data Execution Prevention, and am checking for bad cc.

Wall Phone Hack!

Sims can use wall phones that are behind counters (they'll lean over to grab it) but any other similar sized object will give them route fails. A Walk Through OMSP will work for some objects but they make Sims clip through and I couldn't get them to work with dressers at all. It finally hit me that there's a simple solution to this, use a kitchen counter OMSP like this one by @lamare-sims

Sims will lean over like it's a kitchen counter, so you're avoiding route fails without Sim walking through the object. Plus it worked with most of the dressers I tested (tall dressers sometimes route failed, but not always)

This does mean Sims might prepare meals on the OMSP if their isn't a free kitchen counter, but you can stop that by putting an object on it. If you're using it to get Sims to reach around floor deco just shift the OMSP all the way to the ground and put the deco on top of it

Did anyone else realise that if you install lots using sims2clean installer while the game is open, if you exit then re-enter a hood they appear in the lot bin! 

I thought they wouldn’t show until next time you open the game - this is so useful while replacing maxis lots with others makeovers 😍
