I’m horrible at replying to such asks, even though they usually sound like lots of fun, but this time I’ll do it! It’ll be a bit (...or more than a bit...) of a spoiler, as the character I’ll talk about wasn’t even introduced yet, and just looking at my characters’ list you’d probably never guess that she’s ever going to be of any importance... But she plays a major role in many scenes which still exist only in my head and I love that girl to pieces, even though she’s still just a child. OK, enough introduction, let’s do it!
1) Flora is an illegitimate daughter of a local pharmacy owner, Eulalia. She doesn’t know her father and doesn’t mind it in the slightest. Growing up surrounded by weird herbs and mixtures, she already knows a lot about natural medicine, even at such a young age.
2) She’s got a twin sister named Fiona.
3) She’s got an airy and detached air about her, constantly making an impression of not being fully there. She’s sociable, but people usually feel like they can’t get through to really get to know her; her emotions tend to be gentle, watered down; long story short, she never seems to care or be bothered with anything, looking at life and other people with some otherworldly serenity. A bit of Luna Lovegood, if that tells you anything.
4) Because of her unusual way of being, many people consider Flora stupid, thinking she simply can’t comprehend half of the things going on around her. Obviously, it’s not true; her brain works perfectly fine and she’s actually quite smart. She’s getting pretty good grades at school, has a great interest in nature and often can easily spot connections which elude other people. She’s also bilingual: even though her native tongue is German, she learned Polish already as a toddler, simply by regularly listening to her mother’s customers.
5) The one thing which can put Flora out of her serenity and make her feel very uncomfortable is the cold. She doesn’t hate winter - that’s too strong of an emotion for her - but she feels very miserable whenever temperatures drop below zero. Or even if they’re slightly above. She’d most gladly spend all winters cuddled in a blanket in front of a fireplace, in their flat just above the shop. And to be honest, that’s exactly what she’s doing whenever she doesn’t have to be at school.
