Imma be honest, I've never been a big fan of anime simuldubs.

I get WHY they exist, but like, I think everyone's beef with dubs would go away if studios were given more time to make better casting, translation, and directing decisions without having to rush the releases, y'know?

Funimation To Produce Bungo Stray Dogs Season 3 SimulDub

Earlier today, Funimation took to Twitter to announce that they will stream the English dub for Bungo Stray Dogs. The series will launch on FunimationNow on May 17, at 5:00PM Eastern (2:00PM Pacific). New episodes will be added on Fridays.

Fall 2017 Simuldub Three Episode Test 

There are five shows I decided to give the three episode test to via their Funimation simuldubs.  I'm afraid I don't feel like I have any super extreme opinions on any of them yet.  I may of course try more shows later. Code:Realize A Reverse Harem Visual Novel adaptation that also appeals to my Tales of The Shadowmen related interests.  It was the one I was most guaranteed to check out. The show is not possible to imagine as compatible with the original literary canons of the characters.  But it has been fun so far, and so I will definitely watch episode 4 tomorrow. Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World My knowledge of the original Kino's Journey Anime is mostly only via watching SFDebris reviews of it.  I learned about the Gender Ambiguity of Kino's character when I read Vrai's piece on the pilot back when only it's Sub was available, so I knew the plot of episode 1 going in. I have enjoyed all three episodes, and it may please Vrai to know that the Dub has not used any Gendered pronouns of Kino so far.  Still, I generally don't think this is my kind of show, so I have my doubts I'll stick with it. Anime Gataris. This is the least likely show I'll drop, it's not on par with Lucky Star but it's still a pretty fun Anime about talking about Anime show.  If Lucky Star and Yuru Yuri are the main kind of Anime you like, this is your show for this season. A Sister's All You Need Now if my blog has any followers, you may recall me explicitly telling people NOT to watch this show in my post titled It's Americans who don't know what real Teenager look like. That was advice for normies, I'm not a normie, I watched all of Eromanga-Sensei and found some value in it, though I couldn't make it three episodes into Oreimo.  So I did decide to give this show three episodes to see what I think. So far, I'm still unsure about much of it.  Nothing has been on par with the opening fantasy in over the top creepiness.  I like the MC's two females friends and their interactions.  What really confuses me is the MC's younger sibling.  The plot description says they're female, they have a female voice actor.  But all the MC's friends seem to think they're a boy.  If all this dodging leading to is a generic "Samus is a Girl" moment, I'll be fairly annoyed.  But I can't help but suspect it's that rather then any attempt to really explore Gender Identity with the character. And in one fell swoop my interest in boku no hero academia has died, I don't really see the point of keeping up with the show if it's not simuldubbed so I'll just wait until the season is over to watch the rest, or forget about and just not watch either or.

Simuldub episode 2

Yuri freaks out the second,Viktor asks if he has a girl, but says in both versions that  Yuko is cute. so he’ Bi but, prefer dudes with accents and flair like Giacometti or Viktor.

Viktor asks Yuri to have a slumber party which still sounds like he’s trying to figure his new protege out, rather than sounding creepy in the japanese original.

“A glittering god beyond my reach...we’ve barely spoken” - sounds less creepy for both characters and a healthy-ish fan turned acquaintance type of thing.

“Viktor teaching you himself, must be a dream come true, huh?” - Yuri’s fans think he’s bi haha.

Viktor’s pep talks are more or less banter but, not as rude as Plesetsky’s bullying - so that’ why he’s better at the hugs and stuff.

Minako dancing as a ballet student inspired Yuri to become a skater!!! - Positive towards boys who like dance.

“without inspiration a skater is as good as dead...You inspired him to be your coach!” -Yurio

Viktor was planning to use the Eros or Agape versions for his OWN program- that I’d love to see more of in season two this year.

Yuri’s like “If I say no, will you leave?” Legend! Yuri hates angsty 15 year old russians lol.

Viktor teasing Yurio for his pet name from (Smoking girl who supports yuri, I couldn’t find out her name on anime.com). - big brotheer skater prince is a nerd for young Yurio haha.

supported, angsty sore loser whose family and friends ACTUALLY CARE about him...oh, Yuri, I could cry with angst too!

“So all I have to do is turn a piggy into a prince.” - Viktor is totally a fairytale fan

“A piglet and a kitten” hahahahahahahahahaha

“To eat with you” Viktor and Yuri both having pork cutlet bowls together sounds like some sort of date...

Yuri is braver when motivated by something or someone he loves.

Watching Simuldubs and The originals with subs made me notice...

Yuri is way gayer for Yuri because it’s more in the dialog. Also,Yuri’s family and friends seem friendlier than the japenese subs would suggest. The Madonna of the ice castle is also cool since she supports Yuri being a MOGAI nerd for Viktor. I can totally understand why everyone loves him, because he’s more constructive than his own coach, being a skater too and his russian-english accent is super hot.

Thoughts on the Simuldubs

I have to say that the Assassination Classroom dub is pretty good but the Tokyo Ghoul dub is still unsatisfying. Funimation is still doing new episodes of the dubs on their dubbletalk from their website. If you are subscriber, you are free to go see their dubs. Though I don't have the money yet to do that.
