Damn. The new Jon Hopkins record ‘Singularity’ is astounding. Everyone is writing about how it ‘takes listeners on a journey’ or whatever and I want to reject all that jive, but the listening experience DOES takes the listener on one of those aforementioned journeys. Its kind of a record where I go through a number of feelings within the claustrophobic confines of a state of “bliss.” It’s an enjoyably trippy journey, for sure. Pick up this record, press play, lie down, and enjoy. /k

With artificial intelligence we are summoning the demon. In all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water, it’s like, 'Yeah, he’s sure he can control the demon.' Doesn't work out.
