A/N: First week is complete! Officially the longest kinktober piece so far!!! Woohoo! I've been wanting to write something for Remmick for soooo long, so I combined an idea I'd been sitting on for a while with these prompts :) "HE'S A MUNCH" I yell, screaming as they drag me away.

At first, you’d ignored the man. There was something uncanny about him, those eyes appearing to glow inhumanly silver in the dark. The slipperiness of his tongue, so disarming and pretty, speaking aloud everything you’ve ever wanted to hear. You thought perhaps he was a nightmare come alive, or a dark angel sent to test your virtuosity and resolve. But over time, you found yourself falling into the routine, his otherworldliness becoming more familiar to you, his pretty promises of grandeur and loveliness giving way to more modest topics, chaste and provincial. Idle talk of your neighbors, the weather, the current gossip in town. You started to indulge him more, cracking the window open to listen, and sometimes gave your thoughts in response. He never made a move to forcibly enter, only leaning against the window sill, never crossing the threshold. Each time he’d ask for an invitation inside, you would politely decline. But he kept coming back, and you kept cracking the window. Eventually, he stopped asking all together, and your conversations grew more personal and intrinsically pleasing. He told you about his family, whom he missed dearly. You told him about your dreams of escaping all this farmland and empty sky…of heading to the city, and making use of your potential. You both grew closer, and you began to eagerly anticipate his nightly visits. You would often times sit by the window and wait even before those little taps would announce his arrival, greeting him as he approached from the tree line. You never dared to ask where he came from, or where he went when he left before the dawn. Only, you enjoyed his company during those few hours you had it. You suspected he might’ve begun to enjoy yours as well. One night you swore you caught the glint of sharp fangs in his mouth, and the next morning you decided to do some digging at the local library. You poured over books detailing myths and legends, folklore and monsters all around the globe. Most of the content you skimmed, not recognizing any of details. Lots of the books were more than likely fabricated, scary tales of caution to frighten children into behaving. You were nearly about to give up your search when you stumbled upon what seemed to be collection of interviews—people who claimed to have encountered the mythical “vampyre.” You read through the chapters, drinking in every recorded anecdote. Most of the stories depicted creatures that failed to catch your notice, nothing appearing at all familiar. However, near the end of the book in one of the later chapters, one description of the monstrosity made you pause: disarming and well-mannered to beguile their victims, the rigidity of their laws, their weaknesses—garlic, wooden stakes, sunlight—their affinity for music, their supernatural coordination, suggesting a hive mentality… the oppressive need to covet.

And, most notably—their silver, glowing eyes. That night, you were in a state of anxious anticipation as you waited for your nightly visitor. When he finally arrived at his typical time, you rose from the edge of the bed to stand near the open window. His eyes, silvery and luminous, watched you carefully, his sharp smile fading slightly as he seemed to sniff out the scent of your apprehension. “Evenin’,” he spoke calmly enough, but raised an eyebrow at you questioningly.

You dipped your head in greeting, your hands playing with the white curtains hanging off to the side of the window frame. “Good evening, Remmick,” you replied, your posture slightly stiff.

Remmick stepped closer, leaning an arm against the wall as he looked down at you with those piercing eyes. A shiver rolled up your spine, and again, an almost concerned look stretched across his face as if he could read your thoughts. “Somethin’ gnawin’ at you?” he asked lowly.

You took a breath, shaking your head. You still weren’t even sure if you should confront him. Over the past few months, you’d formed an unlikely…connection? Friendship?

“No, why do you ask?” you hummed, the lie sounding feeble even to your own ears. His eyes narrowed slightly.

“Don’t lie to me, darlin’,” he grumbled. “You’re quieter than a church mouse tonight.” Suddenly, something flashed in his eyes, a dangerous look that made your blood chill. “Somebody botherin’ you? Cause you just point ‘em out and I’ll handle the rest…”

You shook your head again, slightly startled. “No, no, nothing like that—” you quickly amended. “It’s just…Remmick you wouldn’t…you wouldn’t ever…hurt me, would you?”

His expression turned crestfallen at the question, and you almost regretted asking it. He pressed a hand to his chest emphatically, leaning in as close as he could without passing the threshold of the open window. “Never on my life,” he vowed gravely. He could be lying…and yet, something in you thought he sounded sincere.

“And…you’ve never lied to me, have you?” you pressed onward, your voice a little unsure.

This time, Remmick hesitated, not as quick to answer. “Not for a while,” he admitted, glancing away.

A tense silence fell over the both of you as you both seemed to sense something drastic was about to change within your dynamic. Remmick was a bit unsettled, playing with the straps of his suspenders and rocking on his heels a little.

Finally, you garnered the courage to speak again, though your voice sounded meek. “You’re not…human, are you?” you voiced, quietly.

Remmick didn’t respond, didn’t look at you.

“Why do you keep coming back to my window each night?” you prodded further, imploringly.

Again, Remmick didn’t respond right away, but when you didn’t fill the silence, he sighed and gave in. “Suppose I…enjoy your company is all… Though, I can’t say I planned on likin’ this so much… sittin’ with you each night…”

His evident discomfort with the admission eased a bit of the anxiety in your chest. You chewed on your bottom lip, debating your next move. Finally, with a deep breath, you took the leap. “If I invited you in…you’ll be good? And courteous?”  

His neck snapped so fast to look at you that you nearly jumped a little. His eyes, now sharp, bored into you with a dark intensity. “Pardon?” he asked, voice hoarse.

You swallowed thickly, and spoke the words of some dark, ancient magic. “Remmick…would you like to come in?”

The air between you stilled, each of you frozen in place as the world seemed to hold its breath for just a moment. All was quiet—even the crickets in the night had halted their orchestral symphony.

And then chaos cleaved through the moment of stillness as Remmick vaulted through the open window, a wild look in his eyes. You gasped and stumbled back, falling onto your bed as the backs of your thighs bumped into it.

You moved to scramble back up, frightened, but he was already upon you. You cried out as your head hit the pillow, his form crawling over you as his arms pinned you against the mattress. There was a manic look in his eyes, something animal and desperate. You watched in horror as he bent his head low to your neck…and inhaled deep, breathing in your scent. The groan that escaped him nearly made you blush.

“You temptin’ me, darlin’?” he asked lowly, his voice like gravel crunching under tires. “Tonight, of all nights…” He shook his head and lifted it to peer down at you with those luminescent silver eyes. You saw it clear as day now…sharp, bone-colored fangs nestled behind his lips.

“Vampire…” you breathed out, eyes wide. It wasn’t a question, or an accusation. Simply, it was the confirmation of the fact you’d long begun to suspect.

His eyes shined with a sort of delight, and he grinned at you with a toothy, pointed smile. “Now why would ‘ya go and do a fool thing like this when you knew well what I was?”

Adrenaline pounded in your veins, the feeling hot and jittery. You didn’t move, didn’t try to fight or scramble away. You only laid there, gazing up at him with wide eyes, and swallowed.

He tracked the movement of your throat bobbing, and hissed through his teeth, practically salivating. “The door’s open now. No takin’ it back…” he murmured, clawlike fingernails tearing into the fabric of the bed as his hands clenched with restraint. “Once I’m inside, I don’t leave easy…” he warned.

You felt your pulse thrumming in your neck, your warm-blooded heart pounding away against your ribs. Despite your slight apprehension, you forced yourself to look him in the eyes. You responded with as strong a voice as you could manage, “I don’t want you to leave.”

This small, sincere admission had an instant effect—his entire body going rigid. He stared down at you, eyes intense and imploring. Something vulnerable flickered in those silver pools, and his breath hitched.

“S’that so?” he quietly replied with a ragged breath.

“Yes,” you exhaled, your eyes fluttering shut. “…I trust you.”

You didn’t dare let yourself see his expression, keeping your eyes firmly closed as you waited for what would either be acceptance or the tearing of teeth into the flesh around your carotid. You felt his weight shift slightly over you, dipping down low into you…

And then the ghost of a touch graced your lips. He tasted like copper mixed with something earthy, and you felt your body relax into the kiss.

More confidently, you raised a hand up to cradle his cheek, pulling him deeper into you. He hummed low in his throat, and nipped gently at your bottom lip. You felt the sharpness of his teeth, but they didn’t break the sensitive, pink flesh. The thrill of something so lethal in the palm of your hand, kissing you with such reverent and hungry passion, made your body come alight.

Heat flooded your system, something slick beginning to wet the insides of your thighs. Remmick pulled away from your mouth, inhaling deeply as he sniffed the air, and his pupils dilated to the size of two large, black coins. “Now ain’t you just the most perfect little thing?” he drawled, trailing kisses and nips down your body.

He made fast work of removing your clothes, and you lifted you hips to assist him as he pulled your pants from your legs. Laid bare before him, he looked absolutely ravenous above you. Your natural predator, and beneath him you were a willing temptation.

Suddenly, the tear of fabric sounded through the air, and soft down feathers began to gently fall through the air. You blinked, stunned as Remmick tore a long strip of fabric from what was once one of your pillows and leaned forward to drape it over your eyes. “Shh,” he cooed. His voice strangely sounded less like a southern drawl, and more akin to something from across seas.

“You said you trust me,” he murmured.

You stilled, craning your neck up slightly to aid him in tying the ends of the crudely made blindfold. Darkness blotted your vision, and now you could only rely on your senses of smell, hearing, taste, and… touch. You felt the bed shift as his weight moved, trailing down lower to the slickened area between your legs.

“Oh Jesus, Mary, and Joesph,” he groaned, his hands gripping tightly into the plump flesh of your thighs. “It’s like your body knows…such a bloody mess for me.” You stiffened at the words, a horrified realization cutting through you like a cleaver. The slick you had felt pooling between your legs hadn’t been your arousal. It’d been your menses. You jolted, humiliated as you moved to sit up and tear off the blind fold, but you were roughly shoved back down against the bed.

Despite the vulgar sight, Remmick looked entirely pleased with himself, and leaned in to kiss you tenderly.

You tasted yourself on his lips, and you winced when your sore pussy clenched at the mixed flavor of your blood and cum. “I could spend a lifetime chasing the taste of you and still not have enough,” he hummed reverently, petting your hair as he laid next to you. “Every breath you take from now on is tangled up in mine. Nobody will steal you away from me now.”

You felt a twinge of something in your chest, sensing a dark undertone to his intimate words.

“I’m going to devour you whole.”

Sinners is pretty unclear about whether or not the soul of a vampire, once killed, can rejoin their ancestors, and I love the discussion because I am of the mind that remmick indeed got to the afterlife.

While Annie is explaining the lore she states that once a person is killed and brought back, the soul is trapped in the body and denied the afterlife.  She then states that killing a vampire frees the soul once more. This seems to imply that the soul isn't bound to the curse, and once the vampire is killed the soul is freed. 

However, Annie then states that she wishes to be killed BEFORE she's allowed to return as a vampire so that her soul may not be trapped. That SEEMS to imply that her soul will be unable to return to the afterlife despite being freed from the body, which would directly contradict her statement that the kindest thing to do for a vampire is to kill them and free their trapped soul. 

This either means that a person's soul, once cursed by a vampire, is forfeit of gaining an afterlife but is still better off destroyed rather than an eternity of being trapped in the body of a monster.

OR Annie simply wanted to die before she turned because she didn't want Smoke to hesitate and possibly be unable to kill her(because she still SEEMED to be alive, and he loved her too much to lose her). Which seems more plausible because Otherwise there is no reason to say "free the soul from the curse".

Another layer of confusion is that when Remmick explains to Sammy why he wants him, he states that he wants to see his people again and that he's trapped here. This either implies that remmick has no other options to seeing his ancestors again in vampire life OR death, and couldn't simply take his own life to free his soul.

OR it just means that because he's a cursed monster he would never think to kill himself and instead resorts to taking and manipulating others. 

Now specifically the reason I believe he got to the afterlife is because While Remmick is dying there is also heavy symbolism that his soul is being freed. The scene is very sentimental and we linger on his emotions. Irish music can be heard while he looks into the sunrise like his ancestors are finally calling him home. and once he dies his body disappears instead of dropping as a corpse like the other vampires. This distinction is clearly meant to imply that Remmick is being freed from his centuries long isolation, and the music implies that he's not only freed, but reconnecting to what he's lost.

In conclusion, bro is dancing a mean little jig up there with all his homies ☘️🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼☘️

I don't think the Sinners Vampires can lie

Writing this because its not a take I've seen anyone else have but is integral to my analysis, interpretation and characterization of Remmick and the other vampires.

I legitally don't think they can lie. Not fully anyway. They can say things that aren't the whole truth or misleading truths. But can't just whole sale make something up.

Theres a lot of times in this movie where straight up lying would really help them but they just don't.

Like when asked if they're klan and Remmick stumbles when he tries to say no and instead goes it "we believe in equality" because even if he isn't, bert and joan are. He can't say a blanket no because its a lie. But they do technically believe in equality, a fucked up vampiric kind but still.

Or like, the whole time Cornbread is at the door trying to be let in. He doesn't actually answer much, he redirects a lot. Specfically see when Annie tells him to admit that he's dead, he doesn't answer, he laughs and asks smoke if he believes this shit. It'd be so much easier to say no but he can't.

Also make no mistake in me saying they can't lie to mean they aren't manipulative. They very much are, especually Remmick. He just does it with the technical truth. Which is honeslty a very interesting thing for a villain.

(I also think they're strongly bond by promise but I don't really have evidence for that, the only one we see is Stacks promise to Smoke which he'd have honored whether he had to or not, that just seems to be the kind of fae shit these vampires are operating on)

I know I keep talking about Sinners (2025) but I really dig what they did with the reflective eyes.

On the most basic, surface, scientific level, I'm a fan because vampires are nocturnal predators and it makes sense for them to have a reflective gaze that's able to see in the dark like other nocturnal animals.

On a more metaphorical level though— there's something there for me about eyes being the windows to the soul, and that soul now being trapped in the body, leaving the eyes reflective and impenetrable.

What if Remmick was once like Sammi? We know he can sing, dance, and play instruments so maybe he could commune with his people's ancestors and descendants too until a Christian vampire invaded and turned him, suppressing his Irish identity until his sire was killed or he killed him? It's heavily implied in the film that only the living can commune with ancestors and descendants via music, but maybe Remmick was a novice when he was turned so he never got the memo. Maybe in an AU he does turn Sammi only to realize that you have to ALIVE to be the link to the past, so while Sammi can still sing and play guitar, his performances are just like Remmick's where they're still good but lack the spiritual power to summon ancestors. That would be such a sweet irony. Remmick's been alive so long that he forgot what it's like to have your identity and ancestral connection forcibly taken from you and just repeats that trauma on the Juke Joint patrons without thinking. Sammi's playing and playing every night, trying to capture that feeling like what he had at Club Juke, but he can never transcend time again, never feel the echoes of those who came before and come after.

I saw the movie Sinners today. I was so happy with the amount of representation there was. I’m black Louisiana Creole. I saw multiple of my groups represented, the spirituality, speech, everything. I was so happy. Plus I’m a twin so it just gives me a little brain scratch I needed!

I’m cooking up some Remmick fic ideas, but first lets talk about the vampire hive mind in Sinners… 👀🥵

Remmick’s Hive Mind Takes:

Hive mind where you essentially share a mental phone-line, which directly connects a stream of consciousness between entities.

Emotions, thoughts, memories, pain, pleasure, and bonds are all communicated and shared through the hive mind.

Drones can choose when to share their mental faculties with one another, but the head of the hive has unbridled access to those vampires he fathers via bitten transformation.

Drones are naturally subdued, obedient, pleasant, and loyal to their head so long as they exist within the chain of command. Drones break free of the hive mind when the head is killed.

Drones naturally share a feeling of camaraderie and emotional intimacy to others within the same hive.

Drones can be compelled via the hive mind to act or speak a certain way. They can even be compelled to injure another vampire within the hive mind, but will resist a compulsion of self destruction.

The more powerful vampire heads can override the individual mind entirely and speak/act directly through their drones.

Vampire heads can host a large encompassing hive mind, multiple smaller circles, or individual bonds.

The smallest form of hive mind can be described as a mental thread linking two vampires which allows for the sharing of thoughts and feelings, but without the power imbalance of compulsion over the other. This relationship is called a bond.

Any vampire can host their own hive, but if you already belong to a head, the hive you cultivate risks falling under their command via the mental hierarchy

Some heads will eradicate drones in their hive if they are beginning to show signs of mental resistance to hive compulsion. Resistance can be built via prolonged, physical distance from the host or by building mental fortitude via a large hive of their own drones.

It is nearly impossible to transform someone into a vampire without imparting the hive mind to some extent. Therefore, most vampires will choose to feed without the commitment of transforming their victim.
