I can’t shake the image of Uncle Rudy, Sir Edwin, and Lord&Lady Smallwood being the clique of higher government-officials and it’s like how they’d introduce superheroes on a children’s television program with them all putting on their costumes while their superpowers flash on screen. Only, they’re just really dramatically putting on fancy suits and all their ‘powers’ are just in doing ~really difficult~ maths but 20-or-so Mycroft is a massive nerd and it totally works on him.

Is three months that I wonder why Sir Edwin suddenly has a beard ... I do not know if anyone has an answer! The only thing that came to my mind is that it is another way to indicate that it is all a farce, an act (or of an unreliable narrator, or EPM). in fact he has the beard while talking to Mycroft who wears a fake.
