The sacrificial lamb and the sheep dog who gave his life for it.
Antoine and Sir Vale! I wanted to give all the quest-goers this similar shade of pink, though it's incorporated differently on each design. (Yes I know 13th century knights probably wouldn't have had plums shuuuushhh)
Bonus: Extremely Normal And Mundane Owl
YAY YAY character designs s5 edition :}
Arthur Lester should have experienced the Kiss of Peace
For those who aren't familiar, in Medieval times there was something called the kiss of peace. It was used as a greeting (and sometimes as a farewell), and it was exactly what it sound like - a close-mouthed kiss.
For context, two kings meeting to discuss a peace treaty would exchange the kiss of peace when they first met. It could be a reconciliation (when Richard begged his father King Henry II for forgiveness, he was granted the kiss of peace). It could also happen between a lord and his subjects (after freeing one of his castles from a siege, Richard I reportedly kissed every man in the castle because they'd done such a good job holding out while besieged).
In spite of the fact that it was allowed only between men and men, and between women and women, it was not considered gay. It was, if anything, politics. Refusing the kiss of peace could be a pretty big insult, depending who you were refusing it from.
Hence it would have been completely socially normal for Lord Evrard to kiss each of Sir Vale, Antoine, and Arthur (but not Alia) directly on the mouth when he saw them off in episode 50. And I for one would have loved to see Arthur process that.
PART 50….
Part 50 gang! In order: sir vale, Antione, Alia, Mother darkness <3
When seeing off the members of the Company, Lord Evrard has decided to give Sir Vale, Antoine, and Arthur the Kiss of Peace
(platonic kiss on the mouth to show affection, trust, and/or respect between allies in medieval times, exclusively done between people of the same gender)
How does Arthur respond?
Panics and tries to duck out of it
Goes along with it (John told him Vale and Antoine acted like it was normal)
Introduces tongue
I've been sitting on this for over a month
