ngl, I kind of like the idea of James dying and Lily barely managing to escape but does and ends up raising her kid (maybe a second if she was pregnant on oct 31) in Gotham. I can see this going two ways- Lily enacts a spell before she leaves and that kills Voldemort but also destroys the house and everyone thinks all the Potters died OR Lily publically kills Voldemort and Harry lives in his mother's shadow (He loves her, he'd kill for her, but everyone always expects him to live up to a legend because no one knows Lily anymore).
But also, James and Lily taking off from England after Harry's birth and coming to America because no one really expected them to leave England so it was perfect. Just- them living their lives happily.
I also like Lily falling for either Sirius or Remus or both after James' death. Like, they've been helping raise the kid(s) for years and they just slowly fall in love.
Lily living in the Narrows with her kid. Harry meeting Jason and just like latching on. Jason comes over most mornings (often through the window) and eats breakfast. Then, he brings another boy, claiming that he's his brother. (Lily knows better to question it. Duke Thomas and Stephanie Brown are both claimed by Harry as his siblings). Then another. And another. And before she knows it, she's got a ton of kids racing in and out of her apartment (Seriously, there's like nine of them that aren't hers). Until one day, Harry approaches her about Robin and Lily finds herself coating jackets, shirts, leotards, capes, boots, jeans, and masks with notice-me-not spells and muggle repellants and protection charms because she knows her son and his friends and they won't give up but she can at least make sure they're protected.
