Shaggy really is the universal experience: Being hungry, loving your pets, and not wanting to get murdered by a real estate developer in a Halloween costume.
So I've been reading the Geist: The Sin Eaters (v1) rulebook and I was having some trouble groking it. I couldn't really get a grasp for what kind of campaign you would run with this system, interesting as the premise may be. That is until my brain made the connection to the only other major long form ghost story of my life: Danny Phantom.
So now I have a new problem: I can't read the Geist book without thinking grittydannyphantom to the tune of the opening theme song.
Whenever I begin to doubt the artistic pursuits I’ve been practicing, questioning if I will ever be good enough, if the market is already too saturated with hacks like me, or if I will get anywhere, I try to think about all the other pieces of media that didn’t get far, but which still brought me joy.
I remember the pulp paperbacks from thrift stores with lined spines, the graphic novels that I had to hunt down on ebay and at conventions because their runs were too short, and the shows that only lasted a season or two but which I still revisit.
The creators of these things will in all likelihood never know what their work meant to me and may even think that their effort didn’t amount to anything, but that doesn’t take away what it did for me.
Then I pick up my pencil and try to remember that if what I make brings some joy to someone then my work will have meant something.
“People are so sensitive these days that they can’t take jokes anymore and freak out at the slightest provocation,” said the media personality who had made entire episodes of nationally broadcasted television dedicated to calling out social trends and people they did not like.
A Kravitz thought
So I have an idea.
What if when Kravitz died his body was completely destroyed and with no physical remains his spiritual body could never form right. So for the first half of his career he either has to possess something in the room to make himself a body (like the crystal shards) or he has to use his “reaper form.” Then one day, after his 1000th bounty or something, the Raven Queen decides to lend her best reaper a sexy new form so he can have more freedom in his off time and not frighten everyone he meets. But here is the crux: The sexy new form he gets, and one we all know, it’s race doesn’t align with the one Kravitz had in life. Maybe this new one is based on the form of the first reaper or something. Still, it’s nice to have skin again so Kravitz adjusts and even starts using an accent that he feels fits this new form. And after so many years like this the difference of these parts of Kravitz become hard to notice, but not impossible. With that in mind, I have scene stuck in my head that I would like to share with you.
Every boyband needs a shy one, a bad boy, a tank, a Aoe/DPS, a support, and a utili-rogue.
Why does Bart always prank call Moe?
Yeah Moe always falls for it and that’s funny, but there must be other people in Springfield worthy of Bart’s efforts.
I think it’s because from an early age Bart recognized that his father often preferred Moe’s and he recognized the effect Moe’s had. And this is his way of reaching out and lashing out.
Just throwing this out there, I have a half baked campaign idea that I'm really excited about and I've been learning a new system that may or may not fit.
The GM mating call.
