Flashback Friday with my son and the last Zaphoid Beeblebrox snuggling. Zapphy and his brother Sir Thomas of Snuggle were Siamese mixes. Siamese mixes make very good ESA cats for kids on the autistim spectrum. Kids who have sensory issues and trouble understanding emotions can learn them better from cats than from humans. I found this to be true with my son. I taught him to watch how the cats ears would change positions, how their fur would change, to look at their body posture. Humans are more subtle. He was able to take the lessons about cats and use that with humans. You know how cats use their ears? Humans tend to use their eyebrows and lips... and so on. While most folx pick up this information subconsciously, neuroatypical folx do not. They need to have the information pointed out to them just as others are taught the ABCs although they may pick up the alphabet without seeming to need to think about it (or math or dinosaurs or other subjects). Learning to pet cats can also help with fine motor control which is often associated with being a problem with neuroatypical folx. So cats can also help there by encouraging kids to play with them. #flashbackfriday #zaphoidbeeblebrox #sirthomasofsnuggle #teenagemutantninjakittyhorde #esacat #neuroatypical #washyourhands #benice #wearamask #blacklivesmatter #saveblacklives #aspergers (at Murfreesboro, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCK7c7oJFyC/?igshid=78mh2isz799s
