Whew! Just paid for another week at the hotel. Here are pics from yesterday at the wonderful @catfeinecatcafe where I picked up my official quarantine shirt and then got to pet kitties!! It was so destressing!!! Especially when two of the kittens got in my lap. I might have to see if you can buy a two hour block. Seriously. Just hanging out in a room with cats refreshes the soul. Of course, that’s why I want to see #nokillintentionalcommunityshelter across the world. Small communities of tiny and tree houses, all handicapped accessible which means you can also age in place, with a large house that has a communal kitchen and other spaces available. The Thing is such a place can grow organically depending on the residents. Nonprofit so rent or mortgage is reachable by disabled and vets coming back into the community. It’s easier on folx with PTSD because you have people there but not too close unless you want them. Now if you don’t have PTSD or CPTSD you may not understand that. But trust me, it’s a thing. Sometimes you need to play cards or game with folx in the rec room, or just read in a corner in there, while sometimes you need the furthest tree on the property. Which is why five to ten acres cat and dog proof fenced. With individual fences for those with service dogs or esa dogs so they can let their dogs out to stretch and do their business without having to leash them. The difference in mental health that such a space and caring for animals would make for many. The difference in level of stress from being able to afford to live. Oops. For my birthday I went to @catfeinecatcafe! This place is the awesome. The first picture is of a kitty who got picked up early. The second is a lucky black cat who is also adopted but I got to pet him as he’s waiting to go home. Then I got to see a bonded pair meet one of their humans! Henry latched onto his mom and she called his dad who said yes to him and his sister Hattie! Mom has filled out their application and now everycat waits for the home visit. Catfeine Cat Cafe partners with local rescues like @rutherfordcountycatrescue to find Forever Homes for kitties. In these times we’re not just having kitten season but folx having to surrender beloved pets due to health or housing issues. But pets are an excellent way to help stay healthy during stressful times. They lower your blood pressure. They give you a reason to get up in the morning. They love you when everything else seems like it’s falling apart. I don’t know where I’m going tomorrow but just one hour sitting with cats purring has made such a difference in how I feel. We need to be more life affirming. We need to educate about pets and pet care. Ummm how’d I get up on this soapbox? Oh I also got this amazing soft shirt with their Covid logo!! I think this is one of my favorite whisker pictures. I seriously want to get back into a place with cats again. Preferably Sir Merlin Fuzzybutt (where are you? It’s been almost a year!!) but I’ll take what I can get. I am meeting a new prospective roomie tomorrow, still don’t know about other roomie, still have to find a place. In other news, it’ll be $128 to stay til the 20th here (day after my bday or more than I have in the bank to stay til the 3rd. Whee!
