It’s about time I did some Lotura art! This is from my Wonderland AU (which is primarily Plance focused but there will also be lots of Lotura) where Allura is the White Queen or the Queen of Spades and Lotor is the Knave. And yes, their Altean marks are slightly different for world building purposes of this AU!
Ideas in Wonderland
I think I'm going to start a creative exercise and see how it goes. Once a day, I will post 6 "impossible" ideas. Just a sentence or two for each, something to expand my imagination. Anyone is welcome to join and anyone is welcome to take any of my ideas as prompts if they happen to strike your interest. I only ask that you tag me so I can see them if you post them!
Here we go!
The reflecting pool reveals to you your true self. But if you stare too long the truth no longer becomes yours.
It's always just been a dress in my closet until one day I came home and now it was a dress waiting for me on my bed.
I had always heard the strange creaks at night. I chalked it up to the old house until I left my curtains open saw the trees switching places.
Animals can speak to us through mental links, they just choose not to.
The only reason the monster hiding just around the corner, the one lurking in the dark just out of sight, hasn't pounced yet is because you keep expecting him to.
On the highest mountain peak sits the worlds smallest creature. Legend says that the closer to the sea it gets, the larger it grows. Nobody has seen the true size of this creature in a thousand lifetimes but now it is dreaming of wiggling its toes in the sand.
Untamed review.
There are three novellas in this book and they’re the final bit of the Splintered series. They give us a better insight to after the books, but also more information about this series in general.
The first novella is The Boy in the Web. It’s a story about Alyssa’s mother, Alison, and her father, Thomas. Thomas takes Alison on a date to the memory train, reliving Alison’s life before and after she met Thomas. Thomas hopes that reliving these memories helps Alison forgive herself.
I liked this novella more than the books, I think. It was a lot less cringe worthy. I liked hearing more about Thomas’s backstory and getting more information on Wonderland.
I disliked one thing...Alison went to Wonderland when she was 13. She was 16 when she saved Thomas, and I thought she was in Wonderland the whole time, but she has a home in the human world...how did a 16 year old have the money or ability to have a home in the human world when she was last at a children’s home?? I found that piece didn’t connect well and it bothered me.
The second novella is The Moth in the Mirror. This is a peek into Morpheus. We see him go and view Jeb’s memories from Wonderland, trying to find Jeb’s weakness to win Alyssa’s from him.
I liked seeing a piece from Morpheus’s point of view....but it was Jeb’s memories...so it was mostly Jeb’s point of view. I like seeing how Morpheus battles with human emotions and hie netherling side...and that his netherling side always comes out on top.
I dislike how we go through Jeb’s memories again. I feel like this series is so focused on Jeb. I really was hoping in a novella about Morpheus...we’d get a little more MORPHEUS YA KNOW.
The final novella is this book is Six Impossible Things. It seems to be a book filled of memories that the reader hasn’t seen yet. It is Alyssa leaving her human life behind and beginning her immortal life and rule with Morpheus.
I liked the...memories with Jeb. I know, I know...I just bitched about not having enough Morpheus...but the memories were written pretty well...I did like seeing how Alyssa lived after Wonderland, I thought it was interesting how she kept her lives balanced while in the human world.
I dislike how memories were the main theme of each of the novellas. It was very repetitive and it felt like the author really didn’t have much else to add to the end of the story, so they added these memories as filler to publish another book. Memories were in the original book, but EACH of these books were BASED on memories.
No more books.
I hope you all are doing well, this world is a scary place. No more than before, I am hear is anyone needs to talk...
I am currently reading Fire.
Thanks for reading!
The Queen has just asked Alice how old she is. Alice answers, “I’m seven and a half exactly.”
“You needn’t say exactly,’” the Queen remarked: “I can believe it without that. Now I’ll give you something to believe. I’m just one hundred and one, five months and a day.”
“I can’t believe that,” said Alice.
“Can’t you?” the Queen said, in a pitying tone. “Try again; draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”
Alice laughed.
“There is no use trying,” said Alice; “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I dare say you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” ‘
Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast 🖤
six impossible things: count them alice
