I know this is some old ass discourse, but, I think what annoys me the most about the whole "Noora having tons of screentime in season 4" thing is the way that they treat Noora as like Sana's no.1 best friend.

I mean, having Noora/Yousef hook up and be hinted at as a roadblock to the Sana/Yousef ship? Sure, maybe a little unnecessary, but I get why they thought that would make for good drama/conflict.

Focusing so much on Noora/William being broken up, his return and etc? Yeah, I get that Sana's season was perhaps not the best place for it, but I think that's mostly a consequence of it being the final season and them needing to wrap up that storyline/their characters overall.

But the way Noora is suddenly like *the* best friend, to the point where they hang out by themselves a ton? That always seemed a bit forced to me. Sana was always closer to Chris (well, they kinda brought that back towards the end which I appreciate), and while saying they're closer wouldn't be exactly right, even her "frenemy" relationship with Vilde was more significant to her character.

And then there's the fact that, if you look back at season 2, it's kinda like, not reciprocal. IIRC Noora and Sana only have one conversation by themselves there. Throughout the whole season, Eva is the one portrayed as Noora's best friend with whom she's always hanging out with. And then there's of course her relationship with Vilde which is highly important to the story and themes of that season overall. But you wouldn't ever say Noora and Sana are particularly close.

in wake of all the anons that i've received this week, i literally have only one thing left to say: make your own posts. if you feel passionate about something that you really wanna discuss with other people, sending it to one blog in particular in an anonymous ask is most likely not going to do anything to reach the audience that you're looking for. plus, it puts a lot of stress only in one person to be the spokesperson for an entire fandom. which OBVIOUSLY i am not, nor isn't any other person that you encounter in the fandom. because of that, i'm simply not able to provide you with the answers that you want.

make your own posts, guys. tag accordingly. message people off anon. but sending anons to a single blog is not really gonna do much to start a meaningful discussion.

I don't get skam fans sometimes. across the remakes. 'alt er love'... but then they say shit like 'matteo needs a real man'?? alt er love, but they'll let racist dialogue and casting slide? alt er love, but not if that love is my sexuality (pansexuality)?? that one doesn't count for some reason. alt er love but POC characters only seem to get a fraction of that love compared to some of their white counterparts? i'm so tired

Caught up with some of the skam remakes !

- Skam France : first season was eh. The friendship between the girls was extra fierce, I liked that. Emma's angrier vibe makes sense, i have the feeling that women in France are much more, uh...like that in general, more outspoken and sometimes mean whereas Norwegian culture is more introverted ? Idk i grew up in France and it made sense culture wise. Not a big fan of her chemistry with Yann tho. Alexia/French Chris is an amazing bicon cutie pie. Cinematography and style wise uninspiring and quite disappointing, tbh. (Plus belle la vie vibe loooll) They could do a lot more to make French suburbia's "concrete everywhere" aesthetic more interesting and atmospheric. Didn't see s2, not watching any Noora season until they fix that absolute mess of a relationship. Pumped for s3 tho cause more changes ; and casual 'jokey' homophobia is a huge thing in France so feels important. Also i love French Even's face.

- Skam Italia. Watched S1 ep1 and didn't vibe with their Eva, like, at all, so took a pass on the rest of the season. Watched S2 tho and it was very cute, the radio thing was clever. Less dramatic than OG and I found the characters a little less deep, but the tenderness they share also feels revolutionary in its own way. I have a sense I will love any and all Evens. The 'share the love' scene was incredible i'm still listening to that song ; the boy squad's friendship was amazing, whereas in the OG it felt more like group of dudes fraternizing cause they're stuck in the same school lol. Great dismissal of toxic teenage masculinity altho there's some iffy shit like filming these girls without consent ? Giovanni is probs my fave Jonas. Big lack of diversity in general tho ://. I was in Rome when I watched it in part, that was so cool haha

- Skam NL. Fave remake atm (full disclosure i'm Dutch lol). Isa is my fave Eva, she feels so real and messy and sensitive and angry and conflicted at the same time, captures the best that idea of "it's okay to not know who you are". Kes is an asshole tho man, wow. I have met guys who are exactly like that yikes. Fave remake Isak too, stylish and adorable but snakey as hell, promising. Also WOC Noora and possibly not a total douchebag William ? Interesting. Gorgeous filming wise, captures best the OG's sense of spontaneity/intimacy with the characters, very pretty (the sunrise on the dyke scene !! Wow!), best use of music, enough new scenes to keep it fresh. I also have the same avocado bra as Eva and the exact same notebook, haha. Missed Sana tho (the actress had personal issues ?) it felt unbalanced w/o her. Guys im so happy we finally have some quality Dutch media for once ajdkghfhslsh

I think I'll watch the others a bit later tbh don't wanna overdose. When they're all done it qill be super interesting to compare cultural differences!

Once they kiss and make up, I’d love to see Elia and Marti have a honest talk about divorce.

Elia’s parents probably got divorced before Marti’s dad left his mum, so he knows what it means to see your family fall apart and suffer because of it. They could rely on each other in a completely new way and share their feelings..

Elia seems like he’s more closed off than Marti (I don’t know if this is even possible but that’s the vibe I’m getting) so maybe Marti could burst his bubble and make him feel less alone.

Overall, I really wish we could see their friendship evolve because there’s so much potential 💙

tbh just because skam it*** has their william apologize without having to be asked y'all are acting as if it's the best most revolutionary remake when we all know that title goes to druck, where there was literally push back about a muslim woman playing a muslim character in druck but the director and cast stuck to the fact that a hijabi muslim woc should be played by a muslim woc, unlike one remake which didn't even have a muslim play the hijabi muslim
