Skandranon is an eagle-type gryphon who was created by the Mage of Silence, Urtho, and who fought for him during the Mage Wars. Skandranon is dramatic and flashy, loves to snark and banter, and is a highly effective fighter and skilled flier who studied choreography and incorporated what he learned into his flying stunts. While he had barred markings on his feathers, he preferred to dye his feathers black, which led to him being nicknamed the Black Gryphon.

Eventually, he became a sort of leader and spokesperson for the gryphons in matters concerning all of their kind, and he also strove to find a way for his kind to be able to reproduce naturally rather than simply being the creations of mages, and thus bound to their creators.

At one point, a magical explosion ends up bleaching his feathers white, and he instead becomes known as the White Gryphon. A name that is also bestowed upon a town he helps to found.

I was searching the upstairs closet for a lightbulb and I came across what is basically the "lgbtqia+ Millennial who likes to read starter pack." Gotta say, I didn't realize I still had any Silver Gryphon t-shirts left. Takes me back to being a teenager =]

The last image is a Gryphon by the name of Skandranon, from the books ‘The Black Gryphon’ and ‘The White Gryphon’, though he’s also a character in ‘The Silver Gryphon’. All by Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon.

And the Honorable Mention is Kang, a Draconian, from the Dragonlance books (Mainly ‘The Doom Brigade’ and ‘Kang’s Regiment’. Though there are short stories also.) Written by Margaret Weis and Don Perrin.
