Games night with the skating squad
They’re playing Scrabble. They have to agree to do it in English because it’s the only language they all speak it (to varying degrees of success). Also everything else has different lettering and accents and stuff like that.
At first, the game is pretty civil. Everything is pretty basic. Nobody really has that many great letters so the words are like ‘tree’ and shit like that you can imagine. Now, obviously some people are going to have better written English than others; be it age, upbringing, or whatever else. So around an hour in: Viktor, JJ, Leo, Yuuri, and Phichit are definitely winning. Some of the others who only really know conversational English are falling behind.
Guang Hong gets frustrated, but then proceeds to slam out ‘dicks’, which just so happens to be on a combo area or whatever so he’s instantly now winning. Everyone’s kinda shocked, because this is innocent lil Guang Hong over here.
Chris tries to one up him, which starts a table wide debate about whether ‘butt plug’ should count as a word or not.
“Someone get a dictionary.”
“It’s not going to BE in a dictionary!”
“That’s because it’s not even a word *looks at Chris*!”
“Have you ever even seen a butt plug? I know better.”
“I can confirm he has ;)”
“THERE ARE CHILDREN PRESENT!”
“If it’s not in the dictionary then it doesn’t count!”
“WE LET YOU HAVE BIELLMAN EARLIER AND THAT’S NOT IN THE DICTIONARY!”
“Why don’t we just take a break from scrabble-“
*simultaneous shouting from around the table* “NO!”
At the advice of Leo and JJ, who are the ones who actually grew up in English as a first language countries, butt plug is not allowed as a single word.
And the American vs England English debate starts, because I doubt they all would have learnt the same version.
Bonus: Viktor and Yuuri realising that it’s never come up before, and arguing about whether Yuuri should be allowed to put ‘z’ instead of ‘s’. Phichit thinks this whole thing is incredibly unfair because he too learnt American English, but watching a viktuuri domestic in real life is too great that he’s not even mad.
I literally wrote this like a month ago and forgot about it whoops
